You're missing his point. He's saying there are 40,000! kids playing in this area, and how the hell do we not have one playing for us! Ontario has a ton of talent and we don't have one damn kid from here one damn player from here playing for us! Sorry but you can rag on Cherry all you want but damn he has a point. Watching other teams pick up our talent and win cups and we're stuck in mediocrity. He has a damn point.
There is no point in what he was saying. Tell me, why does it matter to have an Ontario kid? Is it a cool story and all? Sure, but its not like Burke is deliberately trying not to get an Ontario kid. If he finds one he can get that is talented and can help the roster, then Burke will do it like for any other player.
It's ridiculous to think Burke is purposely not trying to get an Ontario kid or getting more Ontario kids is gonna help the team and make the playoffs. Talent is all that matters, I don't care if it is from the US, Russia, Sweden or wherever the hell it's from.
I really like the way the Rangers play hockey, I actually thought they were the only team in the eastern conference to be able to go head to head against Boston when the Bruins were on their unbeaten run. Now I think you guys may be even better. Torts has really done a good job with the chemistry of the club.
Tortorella is, IMO, the main reason the team is in first. On paper, they're still a solid team, but the way they play is truly something to behold. It's as if the players would take a bullet for each other. There's never any reports of "locker room riffs" like there was when Jagr was here, or when Avery was here. There are honestly 13/14 players on the team deserving of a letter on their jersey. Even disregarding the work Tortorella has done, a lot of the players have grown up together. Callahan/Dubinsky/Girardi/Staal/Lundqvist/Anisimov/Stepan have all developed together. And now they have other players doing to same.
The thing is, as long as you have what is a relatively skilled group of players, you can be successful like the Rangers have this season. You just need to set a tone, and an attitude. That is what Tortorella has done. Eye-popping talent isn't necessary. Just build from the net out, and add pieces around it.

I really like Hughson, personally. He's no Rosen, who, IMO, is one of the better PBP announces to grace the sport, but he calls the game well and I love his voice.
