dont want any of those guys, would prefer (in order)...Todd Nelson, Andy Murray (havent heard his name for a while)...would love to give Nelson a shot AFTER this season, so he can try to win the Calder Cup this year first. Plus, he knows our prospects already (well, most of them, obviously not all of them are playing in OKC yet). Not too many good choices out there right now IMO. Most of the good ones are already employed.

how did I forget about Todd Nelson
idk why but Paul Maurice looks to be a good fit here
Leaving out coach Nelson in Oklahoma seems like a mistake. If anything, he seems like the ideal candidate to bring in when Renney's time here ends. He's building a league leading team in OKC out of... not much... and the players down there really love his work and passion for the game.

not sold on Maurice myself...maybe though....i just feel if we dont promote Nelson by next season, someone else will scoop him away from us and then where will we be?
just my opinion, but i really, really like what he is doing in OKC (and not just this year, but even last year, taking a new franchise to the playoffs was impressive too). And like someone else said, the players really seem to like playing for him.
I want to see Roy in back in the NHL . I read an article recently that said Roy wanted both the GM and the head coach titles . The article suggested that was going to be a stumbling block to him getting an NHL gig .
I wonder what the board thinks about one guy having both jobs .
A few months back I remember Liquor saying that he wanted Tamby fired and Lowe forced to finish out the season behind the bench to experience first hand the disaster he had created . While I disagree with the premise that this mess is even mostly on Lowe , I agreed with the idea that GMs these days get to avoid most of the immediate accountability for the failures of the roster they have assembled .
While a coach has to do his job he is limited in what he can accomplish proportional to what he is given . Three coaches in four years have failed to improve the team's standing . Goals are up and the PP is better which is only to be expected with the influx of 1st overall picks , but the W/L record and the position in the standings is unchanged for three seasons now . I just can't see that as a coaching problem .
People ragging in Renney for having MPS in the lineup , out of the lineup , with Belanger and on and on . With the exception of about five games MPS has been rubbish this season . Potter on the PP , Potter off the PP , in the lineup , out of the line up - Renney can't win there either . But again Potter is not exactly the sort of player that features on a winning team . Dubnyk in goal , Khabibulin in goal either way Renney's going to get crucified by the fans for starting the wrong guy when the inevitable weak losing goal goes in . Again , he gets to choose from two guys who can most kindly be described as erratic - neither of whom starts on a decent NHL team . Horcoff , Belanger , Jones , Petrell , Eager and even Smyth look like a group of muckers maybe two of which are needed on a good team . Renney gets to fill out his whole lineup card with guys like this .
The way Tamby has played this town makes me wish for the days when the coach and the GM was the same man and there was no place to hide when your club shat the bed .

Neither do I. The only hope is they move and get all new staff like Winnipeg. He's a guy that gets the most from every player and finds a way to win. If he becomes available, we need to take a run at him
Why not? It worked for Pitt and Wash (and even TB to some extent), I've watched many an interview with him and he sounds extremely intelligent.
Roy is an interesting one as well, but being both coach and GM is too much for one person IMO, both jobs require long hours and a coach isnt able to scout and coach at the same time, let alone negotiate contracts or trades while coaching at the same time.
