Dustin Penner has actually worked his ass off tonight. Huge shift for him after a couple of ugly ones from other players.

He didn't make a "read" at all, that is the Kings system. They wait and react, on that play he needed to go forward or back as soon as the draw was "won", the Kings system doesn't allow for that, thus being stuck in no mans land.

(not to spark a system debate, but my biggest complaint with the Kings is the anvil they have tied to the defensemen)

Kopitar looks gassed out there. Sutter needs to cut his PK time. Give him more energy for offense.

I don't think any system in the history of time leaves their defensemen in no-man's land. It's an obvious, glaring flaw. No, our d-men are usually not allowed to rove and if he had gone for it and missed he would've been chastised. But no coach would ever frown upon his defenseman for making a safe play.

Possibly Penner's best game of the season tonight.

****ing wide again.

Williams on clear 2-on-1 with brown and misses the net. Ducks come right back and almost score.

You have to make the goalie make a save. Jesus.
