Columbus Blue Jackets @ YOUR Phoenix Coyotes 03/03/2012 6:00 MST
Tonight's GDT is brought to you by me, a believer and promoter of hocky, the GREATEST SPORT ON EARTH!
The tilt is between Western Conference competitors YOUR Phoenix Coyotes and The Columbus Blue Jackets. YOUR Coyotes are coming off a loss a garnered from a lackluster first period performance against the Calgary Flames on Thursday night. The struggling Blue Jackets come to the desert riding an uncharacteristic win Thursday in Colorado over the Avalanche by a score of 2 - 0, a game in which goaltender Steve Mason looked like the Steve Mason of years ago.
The question is: Will YOUR Phoenix Coyotes take this game as seriously as they need to? Will they keep the hammer down and focus on the details that have elevated them to the position they currently sit in?
You can look at game time line ups on other forums etc., I'm just not that kind of GDT guy. I am the kind of guy that will tell you to get your butt to the arena and watch the game live (if you have the means) and I will not apologize for that. We need every butt in the seat we can muster, it's dollar beer, coke and hot dog night, so come on out and have a good time! Just don't get stupid and drive like a drunk idiot and run into my bad axe machine, or worse yet kill someone!
I will apologize to those who find this thread lacking, offensive, or not everything they hope a GDT to be, perhaps they should have signed up for it or got hopping to it quicker than I.
Enjoy this the greatest game on earth played at it's highest level here tonight in the beautiful desert!
I'm at the game tonight with the wife. We've been 4 games together in 2012 and the boys haven't lost yet. So we got that going for us, which is nice. I'm pretty sure they know they'll have to work to win this one. I'd expect the coaches and vets to harp on that. Just need to play a solid first period. Seems like it's been awhile since that happened.
Let's get Vermette his 1st goal as a Yote tonight.
I've noticed a few games that Vermette is doing that no look pass behind him to nobody, that some Cbus fans warned of. I think last game he did that, gained the blueline then just passed it backwards and Comeau took it up the ice.

Yes!!!! My sign the other night said "It's your turn tonight...score a goal for us please!" but alas it was not to be. Keeping my fingers crossed for tonight.
And I'm also looking forward to seeing how Rundblad does.

I can't believe how many Blue Jackets Fans are saying we are building our team around once Blue Jackets we traded for when not only had we made more deals with the Rangers but also since when was Rick Nash the Franchise Coyotes Player?

I never posted that. Not sure how you quoted me saying that.

The difference being that we have a coach that won't put up with that nonsense. I hate drop passes in general, but when a untalented team does it repeatedly it's even more frustrating. Just shoot the damn puck and crash the net.

I loved shooting & crashing the net, but I was never as talented as these guys, given the competition they face your point gains credibility. However an actual drop pass (executed properly), can be effective and normally not a liability. The biggest problem arises from the blind "behind the back pass", which isn't "dropped".... one needs to be very sure before making one of those. Basically, you can't make it "blind".

Seems like it is quite rare that a drop pass ends up where we don't turn it over. I think the trailing player is too surprised that he now has the puck to be able to do anything with it.
oh, ok. Just making sure my account wasn't hacked or something.
i confess i hacked your account. I wanted to express my hope that antoine vermette would score a goal against his former team in what is sure to be an emotional game for him. Of course the primary emotion will be that of overwhelming relief, but relief is still an emotion. I think. Anyway i hacked your account because i'm afraid that if i posted something like that, people would not take me seriously. I needed a username people trust and decided yours would have to suffice.
In closing i hope that you do not mind. This is all very embarrassing for me and i can assure you that it will not happen again. I just want so badly for antoine vermette to score against the blue jackets tonight.
So The gdt basically says us vs them. I appreciate the effort.
as far as us collecting former bluejackets thats stupid. klesla and maybe brule but whitney, torres and vermette are better known for their play elsewhere. we certainly didnt pick them up for playing in columbus

Howson sure did give us a couple sweet deals for Klesla and Vermette though.

It's alright. I'll overlook it this time. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you again.
