what do you mean? Last year there was the free room at Foxwoods for early renewal (I read in the Times Foxwoods is actually going bankrupt), and this year the early renewal bonus is a hockey stick autographed by cally, gaborik, or richards, but you have to use a chase credit card. So whatever, I signed up for one and I'm also getting a free round trip flight for two out of it with the sign up points
Manditory? I thought we had the option to pick them up at the box office?
Nope, they are phasing that out. Their excuse last year for regular season tickets was that the box office was going to be closed for renovations. But now both the Knicks and Rangers for BOTH playoffs and regular season are not letting anyone pick up their tickets in person. You either pay the $25 for shipping or you don't get hard tickets

Meanwhile, the funny thing is that it probably costs $5 to actually ship them and they are keeping the $20 for themselves
OT: Hey I have no interest in plugging this, so this isn't spam or anything, but the Chase Preferred Sapphire Credit Card is a stupid good deal. I signed up just so I could get the hockey stick, but they give you 50,000 points after you spend $3K in the first 3 months.
Who cares about points, right? But actually, they let you trade the points for cash, so you can make the $3K limit with your tickets alone (which you were going to pay for anyways), then turn around right away and convert the points into $500 CASH. Stupid stupid good deal, I can't believe it. 500 bucks plus the hockey stick (and I'm sure I'll get a Knicks bonus too)
The preferred card has a $95 annual fee (waived in year 1) so I'm going to cancel in month 11, but you can get the non-preferred with no fee. The difference is that you only get 25,000 bonus points (still worth $250 cash)

I've actually been considering signing up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred for the last week or so. Up until this year I have been renewing my tickets with my SPG Amex (best card out there imo) but now that MSG is going with Chase I'd prefer to still get the extra gift (stick.) The Chase SP is a Visa, which I don't have...and it also has no foreign transaction fee. Not sure I would take the $500 in cash, but rather start collecting the points which can be redeemed for awards in various programs, with Hyatt being the most attractive to me (the 50k points alone is more than sufficient for free 2 nights at any of their properties in the world.) Obviously if you don't put a decent amount of spend on the card each year the $95 fee is probably not worth it...in which case downgrading to the non-preferred could be a good option.
Good summary of the card here. Pretty good site in general if you are a point/mile collecting junkie like me. lol
I have the Chase mileage plus explorer (I think). My wife and I are on the same account, get miles out the wazoo as we basically pay for everything we can with the card and then pay it off right away. Only use cash or the checking account when we have to. For example, the mortgage we cannot use the credit card.
love the blues sat up in last row of 422 till they made it handicap accessible...now sit center ice 300s. Blues had real fans who went to
all the games and a culture all to itself. 300s are tourist central ..very few faces there on a regular basis....Blues since previous renovation felt like sitting in a closet and it was tough to hear PA but otherwise loved it up there
Anyone with any updates about possibly being moved to other seats before may 11???
My rep has ignored 3 emails and 2 voicemails left since March 6th. I'm losing hope and at the same time, become very irritated with the lack of customer service.

I spoke to my rep yesterday and asked him about moving seats and he told me that basically I had to accept what I was assigned and hope something opens up. He told me that no movement will be made until all the invoices are in and all seats were issued invoices for next year. He then told me that movement will be strictly based on tenure and that some STH,s in the back rows of the 300,s are unhappy but basically with few exceptions if you are now in the back row of the 300,s you will still be in the back row of your section based on price point and if you are in the front row of the 400,s this year next year you will be in the front row of the new section based on price point. MSG based all of this on computerized charts and tried to be as fair as they could. I am not totally happy but hopefully I can move based on tenure(5 years now) as a STH.

While this logically makes sense, here is the problem I have with MSG's reasoning:
The old 300's and old 400's were not a difference of one row. If you were in Row A of the 400's, you were on a balcony and significantly higher then someone in the last row of the 300's; thus the need for a dramatically different price point of $20+ dollars is somewhat justifiable. In the case of the new upper bowl next year, the view between these price points is virtually identical and thus should not be priced at such a high difference. I would be perfectly ok if the row behind me was priced, lets say $5-8 lower. But $23 dollars is not acceptable to me -- which works out to be $2000.

I agree with you totally. Other venues have a much more gradual price increase based on the higher you go. It would have been much more fair if they raised prices every 5 rows or so. I am currently in the 9th row in my section and will be in row 10 next year assuming I don,t get moved. My new section will have 17 rows at the new price point where this year I only have 4 rows behind me. It seems as if MSG didn,t take your valid argument into account. You have a tough decision because if you don,t renew you will go to the waiting list.

Customer Service? Is this your first day with your new tickets? You know this is the Rangers board right?
I've only been waiting for a call back for about a week.
I really don't know what to do. I know I won't be renewing by March 26th, and will wait until May, but worried about giving up my tickets for the chance to move into cheaper seats during the second relocation. Right now I am going to be in row 11 so thinking if I do keep them I will request an upgrade and try to move down to a better row to make the tickets more desirable when trying to sell the games I can't make.
So I put a $500 deposit down for a chance to buy tickets in the upper bowl... I highly doubt I will get anything that I'd be happy with though from reading everyone's situation. There is no way I would take a row or two before the price change and I'm sure those are the tickets they will have trouble selling. What do they do if you aren't happy with any of the seat selections when you put a deposit down?
