The one good thing is that BC is a top three program, so if he had to play college puck BC is not a bad place to be. Would he develope more if he played juniors? Probably, but most said he has a strong bond with his family and maybe for his maturity, BC is his best road. He can still get a year or so in the A before he's ready.

Not this season, but he is eligible for next season (if he was drafted)

2003 seens to be a cronerstone year for the Kings franchise:
last year Brown (playing time and injury), Boyle (playing time, developing), Tambs (injured) and Push (under the radar) didnīt do much. But this year they have been producing (specially lately). Brown is showing that he is the real deal (leading the AHL between the 2003 draftees), Boyle is finally a top 6 fwd at BC, Tambs, according with Ziggy Stardust, is doing great (I expected him to be top 5 scorer in the country, but anyways), and Push has his up and downs in Calgary but is currently in a hot streak and we only see good reports about his abilities.
keep improving guys!

Those extra two years will give him more time to get through his awkward phase, and also it gives the Kings two extra years to decide whether he may turn out to be the finished product they had hoped.
I'm sure the Kings are just happy with him taking the BC route; they likely wouldn't have drafted him if they didn't think the BC program would be good for his development.

You are correct sir

It was a learning experience for him moving out of high school and into the college ranks. He played for a very good coach, we have a lot of faith in Jeff Dorff. Heís developed a lot of pro players and sometimes you just have to wait your turn, and I think it was more of Brian having to wait his turn. Watching him play I thought he gave good effort and you hope heís just going to continue to get better and better because if can get a regular role next year he can grab it and just run with it and we expect that his numbers can jump significantly.

Isn't that what I said? When you combine the two paragraphs on that subject it makes a little more sense

Great interview. From reading this interview, Boyle shows a lot of maturity for a sophomore. And to give you all an update on Boyle's stats/progress.
He is currently tied for 2nd in goals scored (along with Spina) with 9 goals for the Eagles. Patrick Eaves has the team lead with 11.
Boyle is tied for 5th in the Hockey East division with his 7 goals in 14 games in Conference games. He is also tied for first in PP goals in the HE division.

Boyle seems to really strive on the PP, as 7 of his 9 goals have come with the man-advantage. His 14 points in 22 games place him 4th in team scoring.

I think it is safe to say he is developing and has made a lil' bit of progress compared to last season.

Chat Live With Boston College Head Coach Jerry York!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brian Boyle's and Ryan Murphy's coach.

You can send questions before the chat but in case anyone gets on and has a chance...here are some suggestions:

1) What are the biggest changes you have seen in Brian Boyle from last season to this season? And from the start of this season to right now?
2) Some scouts suggest that Brian Boyle's intensity isn't quite at the level someone would expect of an NHL first round draft pick. Can you comment on this?
3) Who provides leadership on the team this year?

Link

On Tuesday, March 15 at 12:45 p.m. EST, Boston College head coach Jerry York will visit the chat room to talk about his Eagles, Hockey East and college hockey in general. York's visit represents the 19th installment of the "Tuesday @ The Rink" chat series, presented by CollegeSports.com and USCHO.com.

In his 32nd year as a head coach and 11th at his alma mater Boston College, York is fourth on the NCAA's alltime wins list with 720.

He's one of only two coaches in NCAA history to lead two different schools to national titles, having led Bowling Green to the 1984 NCAA title and Boston College to the 2001 NCAA title.

As a player, York was a three-year lettermen at Boston College, serving as team captain and earned team MVP honors as a senior. He was the 1966-67 recipient of the Walter Brown Award (as the top American-born player in New England)

Was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1982

A native of Watertown, Massachusetts, York and his wife, Bobbie are the parents of two children.

While York won't be stopping by until 12:45p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 15, feel free to sumbit your questions now and we'll save them for his arrival!

Just thought you guys might want an update. Last night against Maine Boyle notched a goal and tonight in the Hockey East Finals he so far has both goals against UNH and has clearly been BC's best forward (Patrick Eaves is out injured).

Looks like he is really coming on and getting comfortable with his size. Should be a solid NHLer.

BC was shorthanded due to injuries to Eaves(both games), Gionta (title game) and Harold (both games).

Brian Boyle picked up the slack, scoring the first goal of the night last night, ending a +1. Then he scored the first goal of the night Saturday night AND the go-ahead/game winning goal. Then he was named the only all-tourney forward not from UNH. And the capper to it all? He was named the tourney MVP. They will likely be the overall #1 seed for the tourney. I can't WAIT for his next two years.

18 goals on only 88 shots for a .206 shooting percentage.

13 goals since Jan 1st when York "challenged" him.
