In the Summer of 2003 I've discovered the amazing world of Ebay, which, for a die hard hockey fan who lives in Italy, can be a very very very dangerous place (ehm, dangerous for my wallet and bank account). The very first days I was surfing the website, I've found an auction which got my attention: "Authentic LA Kings Jason Allison signed jersey". It was the old alternate jersey, the one in violet with already the crown in front. IMO the nicest of all our jerseys (speaking about the new logo). I was looking to buy a Frolov jersey, but heck, Allison was ok too...and he was going to come back in September. So I closed both eyes on the price, and boooom, in 3 weelks my beautiful jersey was here.

Game played by Allison since I bought his jersey? 0 - none - nada ...

You know, paying almost 350 bucs for a player jersey, and then realizing he won't play anymore for your team, sucks...oh boy, it really does.

I've worn it 3-4 times with my team during training sessions. Now it's hanging on the wall.

Any takers out there? I'll make a good price...

Ok so Allison is your fault and Deadmarsh is my fault!

I think Deadmarsh played like 2 or 3 games after I got my jersey

Oh yeah...the problem (for me) is that the jersey wasn't exactly priceless...

I can't top that story but I'll throw one in.

My wife went to Staples this last December for some event and was looking for a x-mas present for me at the store. There were a couple pretty nice looking bobble heads but she doesn't really know one player from another so she basically flips a coin and picks one. Yeah, she picked the Allison bobble head........instead of the Luc. I love her but man...of ALL the players to get, she picks the ONE I really really didn't want. I mean, I'd rather have Cechmanek than Allison (and those who know me know that's a pretty steep put-down)...and to get that one instead of Luc....UGH!!

I have a better one.

I have a Steven Rheinprect jersey. Actually it is my wife's. She got it because of the "cute factor." Needless to say, she was pissed when he got traded to the Avs. She thought it should have been Belanger.

Come to think of it, maybe it should have been Belanger. LA would have had a good, young 2nd line center.

You don't think Boston would have asked for Reinprecht instead of Stumpel?

Okay, get this.

My wife wanted another jersey. So what does she do? She gets a Deader jersey. Guess who wore #28 before Deader? That's right...Rheinprect. So now she has 2 #28 jerseys hanging in our closet. Atleast I can frame one of them and put it up on my wall. The #28 is cursed.

I just hope Brown doesn't become cursed by wearing #23. We all know what happened when #23 was on the ice.

where did i say i was confident in whre sullivan was goign to go?? i was saying that i don't buy his personal issues were goin to affect his career, nothing more. is there a risk, of course there is one, but give and take, i think sullivan has a fairly good upside with a lower risk set agaisnt boyle.

So let me see if I have this straight. You are sniping at me because I think my opinion (that O'Sullivan isn't guaranteed to succeed) is right and I shouldn't even question your opinion? Why do you post on a public message board if you don't want anyone to question what you write?
u don't have it straight, but i do enjoy your wonderful stories.

Pray tell...please direct me to your source that gave you "the real story". I have no "sources" on O'Sullivan, I simply read things from the likes of CSS, Bob McKenzie and Kevin Allen (USA Today). I don't pretend to have any inside knowledge abou him, but I've read enough from people who I hold in high regard that he's had problems. Does that mean he'll wash out? No. But he's got risk you don't seem to want to acknowledge.
to reiterate what i said in this post, i acknowledge the risk, i don't think i've ever heard anyone bold enough on this whole board to acknowledge there wasn't a risk in a prospect, but in my opinion, skill and risk wise, i think sullivan would ahve been the better pick. he has amazing skill and really should have been a first rounder, it would have been great to pick up a player that dropped tha tmuch.

these responses are gettin lame, it's coming down to the "oh, so r u using tarot cards" and other ticky tacky arguments. next thign i kno, ur goin to start whipping out grammar and spelling errors.

i think boston still would have wanted stumpel cause they wanted someone to step in right away...the kings, i would bet, would have gladly given reinprecht.

You always have to have the last word. I know you are probably in a cold sweat right now wanting to type a reply, but if you do you prove me right. If you dont type it though you will have an anuerism and die. I wouldnt want that.
