Justin Hodgman

So what is the status of this guy in regards to being a future Leaf? I know he's Marlies property and was acquried through a minor league transaction and doesn't figure to be much as an undrafted minor leaguer, but at the same time, he has decent size, and he is the leading scorer on the Marlies and he's about the same age or younger than guys like Irwin, Hanson, Mueller who are official 'prospects.' Are the Leafs supposed to sign this guy at some point? If not, what's wrong with him?

im guessing we don't want to use another contract spot up since we're close to 50 incase of trades

I have seen 3 marlies games this season and he looks like the most skilled one out there all shift long. he has a quick pass and sick hands reminds me of a Jason Blake esq player with out the pug hogging skills

better him than a guy like Irwin

Some Marlies prospects have no potential IMO, so might as well use the contract on someone who has a better chance of one day playing in the NHL.

I'd be surprised if they didn't sign him at some point this season. Likely post-deadline when they have some contracts opened up.

The kid has impressed me every time I've seen him, and has good numbers for his age. He's still very young.

This.

I actually got to watch a game in front of his wife, and mother in law and daughter. It was a unique experience.

What do you think is his upside? I haven't seen many Marlies games though the ones I have seen, he's usually played well.

Richmond, Lashoff, Scott, and Foster might not be resigned plus I could see Stephanovich or Slaney being dumped. My guess is if he has impressed the Leaf management they will sign him in the summer after not signing or dumping one of those guys.

I haven't focused too much on him in the games I've watched, but I'll try to in the second half. He's a creative player who finds the pockets well.

Justin Hodgman had a slow start in the Finnish SM-Liiga but he has improved a lot and is now one of the top players and centers in the league. I'm sure some NHL teams are after him when the season is over.

So far 54 gp, 14g, 37a and 121 PIM, +16
