This team is going to be stupid deep in three to four years if 1/3rd of the prospects hit their individual potentials. Hopefully soon they can just get a few talented D-men who can look eye-to-eye with "Anders the Giant."
The AHL playoffs are about as important now as the draft. I wanna see these kids take the Calder once or thrice before the bulk of talent trickles in. No doubting that it's there - just needs to be developed better starting last decade.
Islanders fans love Poulin during the year, forget about his existence in the offseason, love Nilsson, then when the season starts they turn on him and back to Poulin?
I don't get this Isles team, they played so well DEFENSIVELY today, once they got the lead. Sending one guy in, clogging up the neutral zone, keeping the Devils on the perimeter, limiting shots in close, almost no rebounds. Where were these guys against the Caps?
Hamonic makes a huge difference back there, I must say. I love how well he plays in front of the net, how physical he is against their forwards in close.
Tavares is amazing. Best forechecker, best on faceoffs, back-checks, creates offense - even in a game where he's got nothing on the scoresheet, he's clearly visible, engaged and a force out there.
Ullstrom played really well, playing with confidence, more and more each game. Great wheels and love his drive to the net.
Cizikas looks like he belongs in the NHL. I always felt he'd be an NHL player, surprised it happened so fast.
Nilsson looked good today too. He still goes down really early but he's a giant - still covers most of the net. He looked much more comfortable and confident today, compared to last season.
Also, glad Rolston's gone. You compare the effort level of Rolston and Ullstrom and it's a complete 180.
Streit, Okposo also played well today. I wish Kyle would use his strength and drive the net more - but he's better than Comeau.
Wait, what? Why was a forward in net, multiple injuries?
And not Howie's fault, someone just fed it in his ear.
Their backup failed a concussion test before the game, and their number 1 got ran over in the first couple minutes of the game. They had to put in Connor Crisp who was a center, healthy scratch and hadn't played a game all year.
It's been a great weekend to be an Isles fan. It's refreshing for a change. Everyone showed up. Played a perfect road game at home. Congratulations to Nilsson for his first NHL win, a SO no less.
Love the nickname 'Thor' as someone posted in the Players of the Game poll. From what I remember, he's got a hot gf too. Good for him.

I need to find video of this later this week, must be hilarious.
Regardless of the opponent, still nice that he stopped at the Nassau area code. I mean 617 would have been Boston and 527 is Medicine Hat, AB -- that's marketing yourself to your future home team.
