Keeper trade (Zetterberg)

I give:
Zetterberg
Hejduk

I get:
Zach Phillips
Justin Schultz
Leland Irving
late round pick

Salary league and I have guys like Tavares, JVR, Myers, Karlsson, making salary increases next season. I'm out of the playoff picture already so I might as well see what I can get for some of my top players. Trust me when I say I have a RIDICULOUSLY good prospect core to build from in the next few years.

We reworked the deal. It ended up being:

Zetterberg
Filatov
Galiev

for

Phillips
Schultz
Spooner
Irving
6th round pick (equivalent to a late 2nd rounder in actual draft)

I accepted it since I have guys like Granlund, Schwartz, Kadri, etc. coming up from my minors soon enough. My current centers are Eric Staal, Mikko Koivu, John Tavares, Kyle Turris, and Colin Wilson.

I don't love the deal but that's just me. I don't see spooner doin much very soon especially with dougie Hamilton coming up on the back end

Yikes that is a bad deal man.

Why the heck would you trade away a top proven guy like Zetterberg, who I am pretty sure has finished in the top 30 in NHL scoring over the past few years for a bunch of prospects? If you landed some top prospects like Huberdeau or Landeskog, then maybe it would be okay.

Zetterberg is a stud and he still has a good 5 years left at least.
