Just 2 points out of a top 5 pick. Yeah I want a top 5 pick. I doubt this team will be able to leapfrog 4 teams to the playoffs anyway.

As someone who's watched this team for years you should already know the answer to that: The Cup

All I want out of this game is a good effort, not getting thoroughly outplayed like we did in previous games against Boston. Of course, Boston isn't nearly as scary now as they used to be, so a win isn't all that unlikely this time around.

We'll see how this goes. The first game against Boston, they were at the bottom of the league but they still smoked us 6-2. Granted it was a back-to-back in Boston and the Bruins were pretty pissed choking away the previous few games and had a few days of rest, but still.

The second game, total embarrassment. That was right around the time of the Bruins major hot streak, and the next 2 times we played them also occurred in that amazing run.

This time around they've settled down a bit more and have been struggling a bit lately, but Boston always gives us a hard time.

Even last season, 4 of the 6 games we played were one-goal games, and three of our four wins were by one goal, including two in the shootout. So no matter what it's going to be a challenge.

Let's see what happens now that we have a bit of structure, the D looked very good in Montreal so here's hoping that continues. With Carlyle it's a whole new game, but will it be enough to beat Boston?

Wooooooooooh, big game! Hopefully Gustavsson gets the start, and the boys play some inspired hockey. It's good that they've had two days of practice now, hopefully getting a better grasp of Carlyle's new system!

First off, congrats to everyone in Leaf Nation for "accelerating" Wilson's rightful termination. We have every right to demand a quality product on the ice and voice our opinion no matter how much Leaf brass hated the booing and "Fire Wilson" chants

As for Carlyle, I don't know what to think of him right now but his pedigree is a winning one and that's exactly what our loyal fans need and must always demand. If we can pull off a convincing and sustained compete level for sixty minutes, I will be on board the Carlyle bandwagon.

Hope Gus does amazing tomorrow, no more excuses bud.

I think a lot of it rides on the BOS/PIT back-to-back.

If the Leafs gets humiliated like they have in every other BOS game, the forums are going to be very pro-tank. If not, then there's probably going to be far more optimism that the team has turned around and is capable of crawling up to 8th and won't get get outscored 30-0 in the first round.

By Wednesday night it should give us a better picture. Sunday night should really tell us which direction we are headed.

Just like the Leafs, Ottawa dropped their first four games against Boston. They finally won in their 5th try, a 1-0 game. Let's see if we can pull off the same

TBH, I think we need to win 3 of the next 4 to even have a chance here. One of those wins needs to be against the Capitals on Sunday. The consensus seems to be 12 wins out of the next 17 games - pretty daunting task for this group.

Its definitely going to be a very steep mountain to climb, but I really hope the team can pull it together and make it in. As much as I want a top draft pick and as much as I'll hate a 9th place finish, I'm not sure I can put up with yet another season ending in early April.

Look at the location of their wins. That should tell you enough.

IMO anything less than a sweep of this B2B will kill our chances. I think if we win 3 of 4 this week were still out by at least a point or tied.

Love that Carlyle is at least trying to get some structure to this forward group. A real third line and some toughness on the 4th: No more Crabb/Connolly/Lombardi

and if you're scoreboard watching, you'll want Carolina and Ottawa to win in regulation tonight.
