Sorry, but Im calling shenanigans on this.

I was charged 1.5 per for signing a player drafted out of the exact same spot. (9th)

I think that there needs to be a correction one way or the other.

I'm just guessing, but I think that's per year

yes...they are all per year. Or is everyone ok with matt kassian making 200k?

I protested....but the argument was he gets the Schenn contract.

Brayden Schenn says hi. ELC caphits are not based on draft positioning. This is not the NFL young man. Granlund is very comfortable overseas and needs that extra bonus money to come over.

So basically IATL is whining that I gave his player a lower caphit than another player. Hilarious. If you want me to make Morgan Reilly's caphit 3 million, consider it done.

Elc cap hits ARE based on where a player was taken in the draft. And Schenn (5th) is not a comparable for Granlund (9th).

Go have a look at what OEL got. How come he isnt getting three mill? I would take him over Schenn and/or Granlund any day of the week and so would 30 nhl gm's.

If you can find me a link in the CBA where it states caphits are based on draft position then we can continue this conversation.

Otherwise, case closed. Granlund has been given a bonus laden contract to convince him to come over. When Kuznetsov signs his ELC with Washiington do you honestly think his caphit will be 800k? Cause you're dreaming.

It is what it is. Do some research if you have time. I have to go out, but when I get back I will look into it more. Im almost positive it has nothing to do with anything other than where you were selected in the draft. The top pick gets what the guy got last year, and so on down the line. Check it out for yourself if you dont believe me.

ENTRY LEVEL PLAYERS

How much can Entry Level players make?

Entry Level players will be subject to a maximum annual salary (plus signing and games played bonuses) of $850,000 for 2005 and 2006 draftees; $875,000 for 2007 and 2008 draftees; $900,000 for 2009 and 2010; and $925,000 for 2011 draftees.

The maximum combined signing bonus will be limited to 10% of the player's maximum annual compensation in any year.

Entry Level players may negotiate for performance bonuses up to a maximum of $850,000 in individual "Schedule A" bonuses per year (maximum of $212,500 per bonus). A player may also be eligible to earn individual "B" bonuses for League-wide excellence, which will, as a general matter, be paid by the League. In addition, a player will be eligible to negotiate with his club "excess" individual "B" bonuses, subject to a maximum aggregate of $2 million in any year.

IMO, the caphit are skewed results because of bonuses and what not. Where players were taken in a draft =/= their caphit. It's not as linear as that.

Just look at players in the last 4 years (#4) ELC:
2008: Pietrangelo (his contract slid) but 3.16M
2009: Kane 3.1M
2010: Johansen 1.9M
2011: Larsson 925K

I agree that their salary is roughly around ~900k, but most 1st rd players are. Caphits is a different game.

I believe Larsson was promised a spot on the team if he didnt have bonuses in his contract, or something to that effect.

Jordan Eberle gets 1.15 or something like that. He was one of the most hyped players there could be prior to signing his deal. I doubt very much if Granlund has the type of cache to get him 3mill per. Bonuses or not.

Alright, all yours. If you don't like the Di Guiseppe pick, you still have time to change it until colorado makes their pick.

capgeek.com for the roster.
Please read the first 3-4 posts of this thread for a list of the rules, trades, signings, and draft order.
Nothing has been done for Winnipeg. I'd suggest sending in some contract offers to me for your pending free agents.

That's for each GM to negotiate. You conveniently failed to answer my question. When Washington tries to bring over Kuznetsov do you honestly believe he is not going to get a bonus laiden deal?
Granlund is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the league. I negotiated the terms for his caphit with the GM. Not sure what the whining is about.

Kuznetsov isnt much to me. I wouldnt want him on my team for free. Nobody is whining. Its called discussion and asking questions.

Are there any other prospects who came out of Europe that got such a nice deal? If I was Minnesota I would have made the punk sit. This is the best league in the world and you need to pay your dues if you wanna get paid. Just my 2 cents on the Granlund deal.
