Doing no research whatsoever....I thought all ELC's are 600k (or the minimum salary). Then there are different bonuses...games played, pts, and awards etc.
So if you've got a case for being a calder candidate and can get 50-60 pts or something then you get two different bonuses added on which brings the cap hit up or over 3.0m.
For defenseman the bonus is usually much less because it is limited to games played/pts....and usually not awards related.
Can't remember where if I read that or if I made it up...
Anyway, to me it makes sense that Schenn/Kuznetsov/Granlund would have heavy bonuses on their contracts...since they were/are the best unsigned prospects at the time and come into the league as rookie scoring favourites.
If they dont sign him this summer he goes back into the draft.
Meh, I would have traded his rights then. The only way I pay a rookie 3M is if theyre are a guaranteed can't miss prospect like Hall, Malkin, Crosby, Kane all were. Granlund could be a huge bust in this league.

It's almost unheard of for any player not drafted top5 to receive Group "B" bonuses.
Like, it's basically impossible to find.
The max ELC without Group "B" bonuses would be $925k + 92.5k S. Bonus + $850k Group "A" bonuses = $1.867.5M/year.
Guys like Jacob Markstrom and OEL were top5 prospects in the world when they signed their ELCs and they didn't even get a max Group "A" contract. Same for a guy like Jeff Skinner.
Also, Granlund has stated multiple times that he wants to sign with the Wild. So I'm not sure why the Wild would have to give him a contract that is never given just to get him to come to NA now.
Hmmm doesn't make sense. It's like Omark and Mikhnov's rights were Edmontons for years and years without being signed.
I found this.......
Quote:
European Players - Prior to 2005, NHL teams retained the rights to a European player until that player turned 31. Drafted Europeans must now be signed within two years, the same as North Americans, or the team loses the rights to the player.

Thank you for providing these numbers.
I have no problem reducing the caphit on Granlund's contract if that's what people want. So 1.88 million is a fair number?
Kerdiles continues to develop steadily into a productive offensive player. He has the necessary skating, shooting and puck skills to compete at the highest level. Kerdiles also does the little things well such as protecting the puck in traffic and possessing a nose for the net. Kerdiles will contribute defensively as he has the awareness to keep on the defensive side of the puck and maintains discipline and positioning in the defensive zone and on the forecheck. A strong U18 Championship could make Kerdiles this year’s JT Miller.
