With the 47th OV pick, the Calgary Flames select...
INSTANT ANALYSIS >> CRISTOVAL "BOO" NIEVES
HT: 6.03 || WT: 184lbs || CENTER || 18GP: 4G-25A-29PTS
"I don't know how he skates so freaking fast for his size," Herr told NHL.com. "He's one of the best skaters I've seen this year. I think he can jump into the American Hockey League and play right now and you wouldn't even blink."
"'Boo' is certainly the best high-profile kid in this area since (Rangers prospect) Chris Kreider," Central Scouting's Gary Eggleston told NHL.com.
"He just explodes off the mark and has agility, balance and quickness to break loose from traffic," Eggleston said. "He also has the physical strength to plow through checks along the wall and bring the puck with him. He sees the ice very well, is a very smart and creative playmaker and captains the team ... he's a very good team player."
In 18 games at Kent this season, Nieves has 4 goals, 29 points, 18 penalty minutes, 36 hits, six blocked shots and a plus-10 rating. He missed five games in 2010-11 due to injury, but finished with 11 goals, 28 points, 32 hits and five blocks in 22 games.
"He could be a Joe Thornton-type of player," Herr said. "That could be his upside. When Thornton first came into the League, people weren't sure he would even be able to play. Thornton slowed the game down and we'll see if 'Boo' can do it at the next level."

With the 48th OV pick, the Calgary Flames select, from the Kelowna Rockets...
INSTANT ANALYSIS >> DAMON SEVERSON
HT: 6.02 || WT: 200lbs || DEFENSE || 51GP: 6G-26A-32PTS
Damon Severson has proven to be a bit of an enigma this season with the Kelowna Rockets. At times, Severson seems to have the potential to be a game breaker – and at others, he seems like more of a project than a top prospect. Severson does have good size and a booming shot from the point, but will definitely need to work on the other parts of his game in order to be successful at the next level. It’s hard to find many glaring problems in his game; there just isn’t much that stands out. After battling injury for more than six weeks, Severson will undoubtedly have to make up for lost time in a draft that’s chock full of talented young defensemen. As a bit of a raw talent, he will certainly benefit from an ever increasing role with the Kelowna Rockets, and is definitely a key component to his team’s future.
Kelowna has been a NHL defense factory is recent years producing Duncan Keith, Tyler Myers, Luke Schenn, and Shea Weber, whom Severson models his game after.

Sending a memo out to Ottawa and Montreal. Are you alive? If not we will have to give the teams to someone else.

I don't see why we wouldn't. As long as the players meet the requirements. None of my RFA's are eligible because I'm taking them all to arbitration.

And on this note...
TRADE: SABRES - FLAMES
LW - Alex Tanguay
LW - Ville Leino
D - Brayden McNabb
C - Tomas Hertl
I could use Leino's cap hit, but I also don't mind moving the guy. Babchuk and Butler are also on the block. Inquire if you're interested, we can come to a deal that fits both of us.

Still would like to add some sandpaper to my top 6. Johansson and Paajavi may be made available in the right deal.
