I don't think its fair to adjust player ratings. Look at my defense for example. Alzner is my best dman, but maybe you feel like he's not that good so he gets rated at 80. How would that be fair?
I don't think they should be adjusted either.
Maybe prospects that are incredibly underrated, but I don't have an example on hand.
So after we sim the 2012-2013 season and start the 2013-2014 season which will in my guess be in April or May, magically EA is going to auto update the rosters for us? Nope, wrong again.
To give the posters an idea of the ratings, here is the list I've started for a couple of teams. Now keep in mind I haven't added prospects to these teams unless they were traded to those respective teams. It will be each GM's responsibility to tell me which of their prospects will be making their final roster when it comes time for that.

Columbus, OH- The Columbus Blue Jackets completed a re-make of their top line Saturday, acquiring center Tomas Plekanec from the Montreal Canadiens and signing pending unrestricted free agent Alexander Semin to a five-year, $40MM contract.
In gaining Plekanec, a 30-year-old native of the Czech Republic who has five 20-goal seasons to his name, the Blue Jackets were forced to part ways with two of their younger core assets. Defenceman Jack Johnson and winger James Van Riemsdyk are headed to Montreal to join a markedly different Le Habitants roster. The Blue Jackets also netted Pittsburgh's 3rd round selection, 85th overall, in the deal.
Semin, meanwhile, signed quickly on the dotted line after failing to come to an agreement with New Jersey. The highly-skilled Russian winger is coming off a career-worst 41-point season, but the 28-year-old will look to rebound on a top unit that is sure to include Plekanec and 18-year-old Russian phenom Nail Yakupov.

My bad. Typo. Yes, 5 years, $40M. 8MM per. I have the cap space and Semin's going to be playing in a low-pressure market with a defensively responsible C and a dynamic playmaking winger. As "the guy", he should thrive.

How are we even going to get the new prospects if we don't wait for the next season?

Maybe just have Yakupov, Grigorenko and Murray enter the league and the rest of the prospects can be created after the real draft...if there is no update by then.
but why doesnt the game change player ratings? aren't guys supposed to get older...get training etc.? doesn't the game do that?
