[BOS] Bruins sign Marty Turco [1 year, 600K] - clears waivers, can't play in playoffs

With the Bruins being hit hard with the injury bug and a presser after todays game regarding the Rask injury I suspect to see Rask out until at least the playoffs with an injury to the knee he had scoped this offseason I could see the Bruins pursuing Turco or other free agent goalies with playoff and even Stanley Cup winnin experience. What are your thoughts on this. I don't see Hutch as a worthy backup for Thomas in a playoff run.

Mod Edit: RT @NHLBruins: B's have signed former Stars/Blackhawks goalie Marty Turco. Was most recently w Red Bull Salzburg in Austria http://t.co/PEW2x51q ^BB

Turco would have to go through waivers and he's playing well overseas, don't see him clearing

this just in ...
Tim Thomas has been concussed by an inadvertant stick by Zdeno Chara. Chara tried to clear the puck down the ice, but his stick hit Thomas during th wind up.
Hutchy is the starter.

Actually, it wouldnt be a bad idea.

I doubt anyone would grab Turco... No one wanted him in the offseason, either

Just like Nabokov? There's always a team who could use a stand in goalie for free

I think by free, Winroba meant without giving up draft picks or assets.

That said, if he were signed, someone would pick him up on waivers.

And if they wanted him, they would have signed him "for free" in the offseason. Turco is no Nabokov

I'm sure a team would claim him not because they want Turco but just to prevent Boston from getting him.

Can't players picked up on waivers after the trade deadline not be used in the playoffs?

They can't play, I was thinking putting the wear and tear on Thomas if Boston doesn't have a quality 3rd stringer.

You guys still have Khudobin?

He could probably fill in for several games. He looked great back when he played in Houston.

Signing Turco isn't the craziest idea in the world.

I don't think he'd be eligible to play in the playoffs, but he may be useful in keeping Thomas' workload down.

From his perspective, it's an opportunity to show that he can still play in the NHL.

Love Anton from his time w/ the Blades. I know he'd stand on his head, then have a game where he'd get blown up for 7 goals and break stuff. Entertaining guy, why didn't Minnesota retain him?

Needed the spot for Matt Hackett, who's definitely better.

Marty Turco flat out sucks, I had a chance to watch him play in the Austrian EBEL league this past two weeks during the leagues playoffs and he let in so many soft goals it's hilarious.

What about former Vezna winner Jim Carey? He would provide a nice veteran presence.
