Our biggest need right now

IMO it's still a #1 centre in order to make our top line truly elite.

well a Carey Price would make our back end truly elite...
an additional defensemen like Letang or Weber would help the team

sure you can pick additions
but am just saying Bozak has done a good job
Reimer has done a good job so far

A true puck moving D and a veteran backup goalie.

The team needs someone to set Kessel up, and another scoring threat on the PP. Too many opposing D can pay attention to Kessel as the primary goal scorer.

It will be awfully nice to have Lupul back.

The obvious answer is a #1C, but a few 2-way wingers could go a long way.

Consistency. 20 games of the guys who are just starting to produce to keep it up. No slumps for Reimer, no scoring droughts for NK and no injuries. I would much sooner the guys they have today show where they belong then they start guessing that apparent strengths are proven facts, or start acquiring guys because they can't wait for guys in the system. Unless the ducks offer Getzlaf for Bozak I am content to have the season play out a bit further and see who is really what they appear to be.

Defenseman. We still gave up way too many good chances last night. Our defense still remains suspect.

Kadri would look good on the half-boards opposite Kessel with JVR down low and in front of the net and Rielly/Gardiner and Phaneuf on the point. Of course, Bozak is nice to have out there for face-offs as well.

We have a lot of nice "pieces" in guys like JVR, Gardiner, Kessel, Phaneuf, Rielly, Reimer and Kadri but no true centerpiece player. Our team needs that type of player at any position, then we can address needs from there. You can be a playoff team with no true franchise player, but its tough to be a contending team without one (or a couple).

#1 center would be huge here.

Our biggest need by far.

After that, a #1 Dman. Sorry but Phaneuf isn't the man.

THIS

Loved that cherry addressed the "lets go blue jays" chants on coaches corner. The real fans are the ones huddled around tv's in bars or living rooms who know every player on the ice not business casual long faces enjoying thier company perks.

As much as I'd love that true #1 centre, I think our team would be much better had we had a true #1 defenseman.

I would say the gap between Phaneuf and a "true #1 defenceman" is a lot smaller than Tyler Bozak/Mikhail Grabovski and a true #1 center.

Yeah but we're paying our current #1 Dman 6.5 million. Way overpaid and we should look for a better deal.

Now that Reimer is playing very solid and taking the #1 G role, the #1 G need has lessened alot, i'd say we should just go for a vet this summer in free agency.

#1 C is the only MAJOR need we have IMO, defense is fine, we have alot of depth and prospects in that area.

So do we trade? Free agency? I say we get that #1 C this summer, whether it's through draft trade or UFA signing.

Not to mention you got up and comers in Gardiner and Rielly. Who exactly could make us that much better defensively? Chara?

I'll take 3 #2's instead of one #1(not saying Gardiner and Rielly will get that good, but they have high-end potential, especially Rielly).

Our defensive depth/prospects are fantastic IMO, Finn also has solid potential, Percy, Blacker etc.

More games against the Habs!

In all honesty though, I'd have to wonder how a Derek Roy or Stephen Weiss would slot in if either signed here in the summer.

A new goal song.

Followed very closely by a 1C.

Reimer appears to be back to his pre-concussion form which is nice and makes goaltending (IMO) much less of a concern.

Can't go wrong with either. If both Getzlaf and Suter were available to us...Personally I wouldn't be able to turn down Getzlaf but a #1 D would look great, we may need to just develop one. Kadri seems like he'll be a great #2 down the road
