Not that he afraid to go with either Scott or Rupp, but in the same situation that he went with Prust, had either Rupp or Scott lined up next to him there, there would have been no fight.

He saw that he was matched up with a guy he had 4 inches and 40 pounds on and decided that it was time to go.

Instead of seeking out either Rupp or Scott, Lucic went after Prust.

Granted, Prust is no easy guy to tangle with, but lets face it, in that spot he went after the guy he had better odds with.

Which is also why the cherry picker lable has stuck to Lucic for a few years now.
You're dead wrong about Lucic backing off from Rupp; he's fought tons of guys in his career already that are way tougher than Mike Rupp who Lucic would handle with no problem. Scott may be a different story though.

Thomas making excuses.

Maybe if he didn't play out of position every so often, the lights wouldn't be a problem.

What a clown.

Maybe MSG should use a beach ball next time you come.

Right on the money; Scott is the only Ranger who could go with Lucic and if Lucic were a Ranger, he would have the biggest fan club of any player on the team except perhaps Hank!

Okay, perhaps the "at times" assessment is understated.

Dave Schultz? Are you joking?? He was the epitome of a goon who hand picked his opponents and if was unlucky enough to tangle with a really tough guy(Gilles, Fotiu, Jonathan, Larry Robinson to name only a few), he got his head handed to him. Lucic would beat Schultz like a rented mule in a fight!

Are you serious? He has fought so many of the legit heavyweights since he's been in the league it isn't funny! Carkner, Orr, to name only two; you mean they don't classify as legit heavyweights?

If you're going to make a comment, stick to topic you have a clue about!

the day he fought Colton Orr and he was pounded the fight only took place after 2 years of him running from him and being publicly made fun of. Lucic who i have been calling Susan Lucci for years is a spot picking baby

He lost the fight to Orr but Lucic doesn't run away from anyone; even I as a diehard Rangers fan for 50+ years knows that.

Orr, Carkner (this season), Boll (2x), Erskine, Rosehill, Ivanans, etc, etc.

You don't have to like the guy but no need to make stuff up.

I stand by my statement.

Would he fight Rupp? Yes.

Would he fight Scott? Yes again

What I stated and again, stand by that statement is that he doesn't pick the fight with Rupp or Scott in that spot.

Rupp challenges him? I believe he first tried to skate away, if that doesn't work, I can see him going with either Rupp or Scott.

He's a cherry picker, always has been, probably always will be.

So he has fought (2) heavyweights? So has Prust and he is at least 40lbs lighter and 4 inches shorter.

For the most part he picks his spots to go with guys smaller or less skilled in that area than himself.

Carkner (once) and Orr (once).

Unless you expect me to be super impressed with his wins over such renowned fighters such as Jay Harrison, Adam Mair, Paul Gaustad, Patrick Kaleta and Jim Vandermeer.

Anyone have a nice youtube of Girardi's hit on Lucic. I would like to watch that one over and over and over and over and over again.

You really need to be more inclusive with a list of Lucic's opponents rather than just hand picking the smaller guys he's beaten.
Look, we're all Rangers fans here and we get ****** off when/if a Lucic takes extra liberties with our guys but to be perfectly honest, I can live with a guy like Lucic a lot easier than a filthy useless player like Kaleta, Cooke(last year's version) and some of the others thruout the league.

You're either being disingenuous or you don't know a ton about the NHL.

Lucic doesn't go out and fight the John Scotts of the world every night because he's also arguably our best goal scorer. Why should he sit in the box for 5 or break a hand on a sled like Scott?

And not sure what you want him to do when guys like Gaustad and Prust come looking for him? Also odd that you include Neil in that group, as he's beat Thornton who most would classify as a heavy. And of course you don't include Brookbank, Eager, Boulton, etc, etc.

If you want to create a narrative that makes you more comfortable, go for it. Seems silly to me, but do you.

The most funny thing in all this is Lucic's fight card is 100x tougher than Scott's.

Observations- Hank stole the win, Steps shot was perfect, Lucic is a *****, Boomer was raggin' on him this morning, he fights Pruster, but won't fight Scott or Rupp, Girardi had the best hit of the game KO'ing Luc-***** on the boards in the Bruins end...we miss Cally!

the more i watch hockey..the more im in favor of 1 of the 2 happening.

1)Remove the instigator penalty
2)Remove fighting altogether

I dont think fighting does much at all for the game of hockey, and when its actually needed the guy will seldom fight against who you want him to fight against.
