1.8m for Grossmann is a joke. He could go for as much as twice that and will easily be over 3m/year. 2.5M for voracek, also not happening.
8 defensemen?
Gotta remember though, defensive d-men typically dont get paid as much as a puck moving player gets paid. I think he will get 3.0 pretty much on the dot. He honestly has no offensive ability which will lower his pricing a bit.

as much as I would love to see pronger healthy and playing again I think that would be a very poor decision for him personally. I think even if he makes a full recovery by next year or whatever that he'll decide to stay out just because of the risk of reoccurrence

It would also be a very poor decision to base our offseason on the possibility that he might return.

Timonen - Grossman
Mezaros - Coburn
Gustafsson - Manning/Bourdon
Pronger(if he returns he goes into the line-up obviously)
Bryzwallov
Any backup in the league for under a million.
Attempt to move Briere ( couturier moves into top 3 centre role)
Attempt to sign Suter. No more than 6.5 million though.
Resign Voracek and Grossmann. 3 mil each, 3 years for Vora, 2 for Grossman.
Any chance nick cousins could crack the lineup next year? He is having a tremendous year in junior as a surprising offensive force and is a super pest...might be a good fourth line player

He'll get his chance, I'm sure. I would worry about someone like Wellwood getting 3rd / 4th line duty beforehand because he's *clearly* ready where Cousins is not necessarily.
Not all that different from others, though I went relatively low ($68 mil) on the cap.

Notes:
If the cap goes up as per reports and adjusting for the bonuses should be able to fit.
Rinaldo and Sestito can be swapped.
Mez is dealt for a pick. I suppose you could keep him if you dealt Bob and got a dirt cheap backup and the cap went up enough.
Carle is resigned to market value (sorry guys).
Read can move up and down the lines during the game. He won't have to stay in 4th.
Wellwood can press box if more grit is needed and put in Rinaldo.
Grossman is resigned. Kubina not.
Manning can be replaced by Bourdon.
Brayden Schenn's cap hit is $3.1mm this year because there is no bonus cushion. There will likely be a bonus cushion next year, which means his cap hit will drop to around $900K.
The reason only $1.7mm counts this year is that one bonus was based on him playing 82 games. There are other bonuses that make up the difference between $1.7mm and his base salary. Ditto for Couturier and Bobrovsky. If there's a bonus cushion, the bonuses can be deferred and will not count against the cap next year.
As far as cap hits for the UFA's, my guess is that Jagr would return for close to what he's getting now. Voracek is probably due a raise, closer to $3mm, maybe $2.75mm. Sestito will get a marginal raise as a RFA.
On defense, I think Grossmann will get near $3mm. Carle is likely to command $5.25mm or so. I know everyone is gaga over Ryan Suter, but if he costs $2mm more than Carle, then I'd prefer keeping Matt Carle. Because spending an extra $2mm on Suter might mean you lose Grossmann...and I don't think Suter is a massive upgrade on Carle. He IS better than Carle, but it's hardly like Suter is Duncan Keith to Carle's MA Bourdon.
I think that Bobrovsky gets traded during the summer, and the Flyers target a solid, veteran back up(Sanford? Biron? Clemmenson?)
According to Pierre LeBrun, on TSN, it looks like there will be no amnesty contract waive option. Furthermore, teams are anticipating a rollback of the cap by around 7%, and teams are expected to spend to $65 mil.

Interesting, but that's definitely a number we can live with. Homer said if he lands a big time dman free agent, he has salary he can move. I believe that would be Mez, but nobody knows but him.
I could live with this Roster!

Deal Bob for pick(s) and/or a backup goalie (if goalie not included, sign one for around $1 million). Use the extra dough, along with the space already available either to upgrade the fourth line with a face-off/defensive specialist or just keep the space for a deal later in the season if need-be.
