Saw that Giroux missed practice yesterday. Any word if he'll be in the lineup tonight?
It was termed a maintenance day. Today's skate was optional and he, among a few players, didn't participate. Otherwise, nothing else has been mentioned.
Based on today's skate, Bryzgalov will start tonight.
Also, Nick Grossmann is adding a second "n" to his last name according to Randy Miller.
Since that is the way that name should actually be spelt... how come he hasn't always had it like that? If I remember correctly he had it spelt with one 'N' for Sweden as well (that is not really remembering, more a guess!) Dis he have only 1 'N' at Sodertalje?

Apparently, a member of the Flyers' travelling staff noticed the discrepancy with the recent usage to that of Grossmann's passport. Looks like it will be reflected on the jersey tonight.

I find that quite odd as well. I have seen a couple instances over the years where European players have their names spelled one way when coming to NA but then years later kind of non-chalantly change it to the 'Proper' way.
I wonder if people just assume and some of them are a little too timid or intimidated to request it the 'proper' way from the beginning?
Anyways, good on him for having it changed to what he actually prefers.
Have you noticed a difference in the spelling of Nikolay Zherdev's name?
Last week, Zherdev requested a change in spelling of his first name. As it turns out, no one was spelling it wrong by using "Nikolai" instead of "Nikolay," as he requested. Nikolai is how it had been spelled since he entered the NHL in 2003.
Zherdev arrived in Philadelphia from Russia on Sept. 14, after a delay in getting a work visa. On his Ukrainian passport, Zherdev's name is spelled "Nikolay."
That presented a problem when Zherdev wanted to cash his first paycheck of the season and the names on his check and passport didn't match.
Rather than him flying back to Ukraine to have the problem solved, the Flyers simply changed the spelling of his first name to match his passport and updated the league directory.
Always look forward to this match up as a wings fan, just so happens that both teams are beat up like crazy of course. At least Giroux is playing, hes a treat to watch
Flyers fans get to witness the next Detroit star Brendan Smith emerge first hand haha
Also I dont think thats going to be the Detroit lineup, Abdelkader will be the second line center most likely, Homer on the fourth line and Cleary on the third

Not the best picture (he's the one with number 2), but it looks like he had his name spelled wrong (?) even for the national team.. weird..

The lines were taken from yesterday's practice though the writer qualified it with possible changes:
One of the Philly beat writers posted on Twitter that Grossman(n) said "I was just happy to have a name on the back of a jersey" in response to why he never had it changed before. I'll see if I can dig it up....

Really need to get the 2 points here, take advantage of a down Dead Wings team. Mr. Hockey will be in the house tonight for his son's #2 getting retired tonight. Let's make it 3 in a row!
Yeah well those must be right then, I even looked at Mlive and must have skipped over that article. Seems odd theyre completely shaking the lines up it seems.
I think youll see those lines change pretty quick come game time, especially if the wings come out poorly like they have the last couple games
