Better than JDD for sure, better than Ellis? Let's wait and see. It's impossible to compare numbers between the two leagues. Look at Thomas Greiss of the SHarks, I'd say he's in Dan Ellis territory, yet he sucked **** in the SEL when he was loaned to Brynas last season, only a 90.1 svs% in 32 games, a lot worse than Fasth.

If the olympics we're now, I think the Swedish National Team would have enough confidence in Fasth to let him backup Lundqvist in the tournament (ahead of Hedberg, Enroth, Lindback and Gustavsson).

Here's the goalie stats of the SEL in this years regular season:

Not really, we had Ellis this year who has been a great backup here and no reason to give Tarkki the one-way deal [even though BM ****ed up by giving JDD the one way deal].

Next year we don't have a decent back up goaltender at all, makes sense ot give Fasth the one way deal.

Fasth is a lot more established, and significantly less of a risk than Tarkki, at their respective stages of their career. I don't really think it's that surprising. Fasth probably can ask for it and get it somewhere, and the Ducks have a need, so if they like him, they have to match that. I think it should work.

Regarding Tarkki, I had posted a rumor out of Finland on him potentially signing with Helsinki this summer. I could see him leaving and taking more money for playing for a top team in his home country, compared to what he would likely end up making in the AHL.

One way contract is still risky for european goalie. Hopefully cheap as hell and has to be only one year. Nothing against Fasth but he just has to show his stuff first.

I would like to see JDD traded, and Tarkki resigned to a two-way.

Hiller
Fasth

Tarkki
Bobkov

Gibson

Tarkki is much better than JDD, at least that's what this last year with the Crunch proved.

He can't actually sign yet, but they've agreed on a deal.

Im a huge fan of AIK and watch most of their games. If we didnt have Fasth we would have ended the season last without a doubt. He's just one of a kind and MAYBE the second best swedish goalie After lundqvist.

I'm going to have to disagree with some people about Tarkki - all he proved this year was he's a better AHL goalie than JDD. He looked horrible in his only appearance for the Ducks, while JDD went 3-1 (and any goalie in the league lets in 3 of the 4 goals in that loss). I'm not saying JDD is a top backup or that Tarkki is limited to what he showed in that one game, but Tarkki has far from PROVEN he's a better NHL goalie at this point.

As a Djurgården fan I would be happy if you signed him. Honestly, last season he was the reason to why AIK played playoffs and not relegation round.

What leads you to believe that? The 1/2 and NHL game he played?

There's no way Tarrki re-signs to play in AHL again this year, especially if this Fasth guy is signed to a 1 year deal. I also don't think anyone will take JDD in a trade. I could see Murray keeping him and signing this other guy to a 700k deal. We will basically be paying the same for a backup goalie as we were with ellis, except it will be for 2 goalies, one will just be in the AHL. Stupid that JDD was ever given a 1 way deal in first place.

Ducks also after Daniel Bang?

I think the Ducks might also be after Daniel Bang (Bång in Swedish and pronounced 'Bong'). According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, several NHL teams is showing interest in him.

http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportblade...cle14624168.ab

Reasons why I think the Ducks are one of them? He's a teammate of Viktor Fasth in AIK, meaning that:

1) The organization should have him well scouted.

2) He could have been part of the Ducks plans in trying to lurk Fasth over, similar to how Toronto won the Gustavsson sweeptakes by also getting his teammates from Farjestad Rickard Wallin and Jonas Frogren.

Daniel Bang would also bring grit and size, if Murray was serious about adding some. Surely, no team would sign him to a one-way deal though.

A big power forward who works extremely hard. Good scorer and tolerable hands. Strong in the corners where he often wins puck battles.
A couple of goals:

From 2.36 with replays up til 3.40.

Would never be mistaken for a goal scorer in the NHL though, just a heart and soul player.

The video starts half way through the sentence... But something about a game ten years ago, where Naumovs had a shutout. As you might know he played a couple of seasons in the SEL.

On another note, AIK got eliminated from the SEL playoffs a few hours ago. They fell short in the seventh game of the semi-finals against Skelleftea, who will play Brynas in the finals.

Are there any good European centers that we might pick up?

Am I the only juvenile enough to immediately envision Hazy calling out "and there's another tremendous hit on/by Bong!"

Ok, I'll be quiet now.

I'm a little leery of these signings. Sometimes, Fasth/Bang is not the right way to go. Sometimes you gotta make some love, and ****in give her some smooches, too.

id go with

blank knocked out by a big bong hit...

that bong hit proved to be to much, he lost the puck...

a scuffle breaks out after that late bong hit...

etc...

make a great 420 game signing though eh =)
