Buffalo-Colorado

To Buffalo:
Matt Duchene

To Colorado:
Tyler Myers

Duchene gets to unite with his buddy Hodgson, and the Avs get another D to help out Johnson.

Interesting trade, I don't think I would make it though. Why would Colorado do that? Is Stastny returning to #1 center form? From what I've seen of EJ, he's been doing very well. EJ and Myers would be disgusting for the next 10 years...

That's why.

And Stastny is playing a lot better now.

Is not like we can't wait to ship Duchene out, but you have to give to get(something Leafs fans don't understand), I feel like the Avs have tons of depth on centre and although we have Elliot and Barrie coming up, I don't feel either of them is a true top 2 defenseman.

Stastny + Barrie/Elliot would work, I just thought Duchene would have more value than that.

It's way too early to even think about trading Duchene.

With his age and talent level this is a trade that just doesn't get done.

Buffalo should say 'no' to this proposal for the same reason with Myers.

At this point in both players developments I just don't see this trade getting done.

That wouldn't be worth it at all from a Sabres perspective. Duchene does have more value than that and it'd take him for the Sabres to considering moving Myers.

I think it is a good and workable start to a trade for both teams. It's intriguing from a Buffalo standpoint.

Both team's fanbases say no, but it's an interesting proposal.

We need someone to play with EJ like Suter. So no based on the needs for me. Also, after seeing 3 scoring lines run the other night, I want to keep all of our centers and just wait for Siemens to develop.

This would be a dumb trade for both teams. Colorado is better off keeping Duchene and waiting on Siemens or via free agency.

I highly, highly doubt that, no matter who is "reporting" it.

Sums up my opinion, too. Consider it a case of "homer glasses".

Despite Myers value and how well he would possibly play with EJ, I highly doubt the Avs would trade Duchene for just Myers.

It wasnt a rumor or ever brought up by either team... It was a random statement by Paul Hamilton... All he said was that if we want Getzlaf he thinks it would take Myers... He even said it wasnt a rumor. lol its amazing where people get their "Rumors" from...

Just wouldn't do it from a Sabres perspective. Hodgson was brought in to be a top-6 guy, and despite not scoring yet, we've seen his ability. Ennis can play center, and may eventually become the second of our top-2 centers. Leino, despite his bad season so far, has been playing well the last 20 or so games, and has been playing well as our 3rd center (overpaid at $4.5M, yes, but I digress). If we can draft a guy like Gaunce or Girgensons or move up and select Galchenyuk, and move Roy for a top-6 winger, then we'll have a good crop of forwards without moving Myers.

Vanek-Hodgson-Pominville
FA/Trade-Ennis-Stafford
Gerbe-Leino-Kaleta/Tropp
McCormick-Adam-Kaleta/Tropp

With a guy in the pipeline like Gaunce, that'd be a pretty good crew.

Myers is necessary for our defense, he's our #1 longterm, and his physical attributes (size, reach, speed, etc.) are so uncommonly found in one player that I see it very unlikely he gets dealt. Duchene is skilled, but there are more players currently in the league and coming up in the next few years, with his skill set and potential.

The trade is tempting, but these are excellent points.
