Until we have Gaunce or any other draft pick, the Sabres DON'T have that draft pick.
To mention fantasyland draft picks doesn't make the Sabres lineup any better than today.
Duchene simply isn't going anywhere. He's the core of the Avs. It's like saying Kopitar or Malkin will be moved in the next 6-7 years

No, we don't have them yet, but yet we're talking about a fantasy trade, that exists only in our fantasyland, known as HF Boards, so predicting fantasy draft picks isn't really that much more of a fantasy, is it?

Malkin hits UFA in on 7/1/14.

And Duchene is nowhere near the Kopitar/Malkin level. He's on pace for 32 pts this season. He's 6th on the Avs in scoring this year.

If the negotiating of his next deal this summer gets ugly, is it outside the realm of possibility that he gets dealt ala Drury before him?

Heck, Myers is on pace for 26 pts this season. I wouldn't even think for a second about dealing Myers for Duchene. Myers has 105 career points. Duchene has 148. And both players have played in 209 NHL games.

Avs fans will disagree, but I feel like Myers has a lot for trade value right now.

The intelligent ones won't. But since Myers is a right handed d-man he doesn't really fit into Avs plans given the fact that they already have EJ and two really good prospects in Elliot and Barrie on the right side of their defense.

Yeah and the Sabres have some good young LHD like Sekera, Brennan, and McNabb. But, Duchene is in a weird spot right now with a bad year heading into RFA.

Without knowing what he wants in a new deal, it's really hard for me to gauge what his trade value is right now.

Honestly, I'd be a lot more interested in O'Reilly and even Stastny right now.

Doesn't help Matt that he's had an injury plagued year, with yet another one last night after just getting back from a knee sprain. Still a great kid, would love to have him, just not at the expense of Myers.

I can see the threads next year already... "Value of Matt Duchene..." "Duchene to Toronto" "Duchene to Buffalo" "Duchene to Montreal"

Of course people would be more interested in the two guys who are scoring more and aren't injured...

There's no deal to be made with Buffalo in my opinion. We won't trade for Vanek, as we won't move O'Reilly or Duchene and moving Stastny for Vanek makes no sense from either team. We won't trade what it takes for Myers, we have EJ already. We're not going to move young players for picks at this state, Sherman made that clear when he took Downie over a 1st rounder and made the Varly trade... what's left that actually makes sense?
