Bylsma: Lovejoy had surgery on knee. OUt 3-4 weeks. Letang lower-body injury, day to day

Wait what?

Oh well. It's good Depres, Strait are more than capable imo.

ETA:
Niskanen and Vitale are day to day. Johnson needs to progress, but getting closer

Letang flexed his legs when returning to the game in the second period. Probably shouldn't have been playing.

Annnnnnd were off...........

Well I'm not surprised he's out, he smashed into the boards pretty badly. He can be happy, that it's not much worse IMO!

I'm guessing it was that hit when he went awkwardly into the boards and the Devil was penalized. Sprain/Bruising.

Those types of things don't really materialize until you take the gear off.

He hit his knee first IIRC.. Oilers' Taylor Fedun broke his right femur with similar hit in the preseason! Very dangerous stuff!

Probably just some soreness for Letang. Out a few games at most. Sucks for Lovejoy, but personally I'd rather see Strait or Despres in there down the stretch. Then we can trade Lovejoy in the offseason.

Exactly. I honestly don't care. One of these dman have to go to keep Strait and Bortuzzo. I personally prefer Strait over Lovejoy. He's been really solid defensively and can still move the puck. Plus he had a ridiculously awesome beard last time he was up.

We'll probably just have to take the pucks. I can't see anybody giving us a net too. It would be too much of an overpayment.

If we want to play Despres in the NHL next season which we should at most 1 of Strait and Bortuzzo should be kept and the other traded. And that is if we choose to trade Niskanen as well. Just too many NHL-ready defensemen right now. I see Lovejoy as gone either way...

2012/13 D
Letang
Orpik
Martin
Michalek
Engelland
Despres
1 of Strait, Bortuzzo, Niskanen, of those probably not Niskanen because of the cap

in every bad it's a little bit of good. it's unfortunate for Lovejoy, but his injury will lead to Despres being our 7th guy for the playoffs, probably.

Don't think so.

Wilkes Barre needs players for their playoffs, too. And with Despres being 20 years old, they will give him AHL playoff ice time over NHL playoff press box time.

Hard to say who will be the 7th D man for the Pens in the playoffs. Maybe Alexandre Picard.

you'd think the NHL Pens are the most important team in the organization. Baby Pens could keep Picard for themselves. more likely the Pens will bring up one of Strait or Bortuzzo first before Picard.

I'm thinking about it, and I'd rather Letang had a little headache rather than a bum knee or groin.

Overpayment... Offer stands at 6-8 game used pucks, 1 broken stick and either 1 roll of black tape OR 1 roll of white tape, not both. Take it or leave it.

I agree, it's obvious the NHL team is the most important team, but the AHL is a place for development. Despres needs to develop, they will give him playoff ice time down there. Picard was brought in for depth purposes, so they might go with him. Like I said, it's hard to say, it could be Strait, Bortuzzo, Picard etc. I just know it won't be Despres.

That stuff would be worth a lot of money on eBay or an NHL auction website.

I can't imagine Letang missing more than a game or two considering he was able to finish the game.
