Last I checked you are trying to get the GM and the President to fire themselves, if you consider that Burke fired the coach. To have this translate, you are looking for a message that translates to the current owner. You are all but admitting that he doesn't want to hear it in regards to Priest, at a minimum.
You are really going to have to step up your game if you want to impact the owner. If this owner is as stubborn as, let's say, Mike Brown, you might as well just start banging your head into the wall.
When it becomes clear that this owner is anything like Mike Brown, I am done with the CBJ.
There is probably room for both. He was just taking the positive message spin approach. Do we have a passionate enough fan base to chant "Fire Priest" when 50% or more of the crowd probably has no idea who he is or why we should fire him? I wouldn't be surprised if 20% of our fans have no idea who Howson is.
Most of the fans know what the Cup is and why we would want it.
Maybe if you get the fans used to chanting about something, they might become more willing to start up a fire Priest chant.
As far as it (not winning the Cup under Howson/Priest) not happening. That's the likely outcome, but I never say never and it's hard to find someone that has disliked Howson for as long as I.
Let's understand that, as much as we hate to admit it, this isn't Toronto nor is it even the Buckeyes. We, as a fan base, aren't that mature or passionate yet. This is going to take time. Individually, many of us are that passionate. As a collective? Not so much.
I understand that you want to be positive but doesn't every team want the cup? I just don't see how that makes any statement about the current situation.
How about a chant like "Lets go Jackets, Fire Priest! Lets go Jackets, Fire Howson!"...repeat. That way you show your support for the team and your displeasure with management.

Of course everyone wants the Cup. No one said it wasn't obvious or profound. It's about getting the crowd into the game and getting the players fired up. It's something both can relate to. It has nothing to do with ownership or the front office, despite whatever Eric Smith might think. You start chanting "Fire Priest" and you'll get those that will try and figure out who he is and you'll get those that don't want to fire anyone.
I've already been over Priest. I wish you God speed. If Priest is gone, it's likely because he wants to be gone. But have fun. I'm not going to chant it. He's not even worth the effort to inhale.
Nice to see someone putting in actual effort on a game day thread.
He had some motivation. Most of us don't. As I said we also got a public service announcement for free (nothing wrong with that, just stating the obvious).
I detest Arizona. It is possibly the most bland place in the world (hey, I have an idea, let's color all of our building's beige to match the sand!) and the weather is only really tolerable about 3 months out of the year.
Awesome GDT thread Matt, I'm not sure which Jacket team is going to win this game tonight but if Nash continues his Gladiator impersonation the Yotes don't have a chance...
I'm all for chants of "We Want the Cup", but only using that chant kinda sugar coats the situation: we feel that a growing number of fans have no confidence that the current management team can reach that goal.
Kinda sugar coats it? Be like the Toronto fans "Fire Howson" "Fire Priest" direct and to the point. Channel your inner Philly. Boo Santa Claus.
Wish I could be there but 1300 miles is a bit far.
This team is playing angry and well. Our forecheck will put them short handed often and we'll cash in on those PP's. Brassard leads the way with 2g, 1a, and JJ puts up a 3 point effort.

For the first time in the last14 months this team looks confident....By far the most entertaining...our checking line actually keeps the puck in deep against the other teams offensive lines....speed I might try boyce on the wing with Mack and DD.

Oh no, we need Aaron Johnson out there providing his je ne sais quoi.
Had to make a round trip to Dayton today and listened to NHL Home Ice all the way. There are 12 games on tap tonight and every game was discussed except the Jackets/Coyote game. Says something doesn't it.
Richards is such a dumb ass. How are we going to go into next season with Brassard and Letestu? Really? Howson better hope he gets a good center for Nash.
