Which marginal players will be back next season

Darcy Hordichuk has had problems to find the way line up. I do not expect Tambo to give him extension. Personally I would extend him one more year.

Petrell is good but not good enough but I would extend him anyway to bring some depth to organization if he is ready to serve with league minimum one way deal.

Omark should get the real chance so let's give him one year qualifying offer.

Peckham should be traded during the draft.

Barker should not receive qualifying offer.

Barker will be gone. He's RFA. No way he's getting a raise.

Too bad Sutton got resigned. Peckham should be gone along with Hordichuck.

Maybe we can give 4th line minutes to CVV next year.

The "improvement" of having Hordichuk in the lineup has been sweet **** all over SMac. In fact I'd much rather have Stev game or two per year that he did... at's the point?

Out - Barker RFA, Peckham RFA, Hordichuk UFA.

I wouldn't mind having Petrell be the 13th forward though. He can bang bodies and is great on the PK.

I also don't mind Hordichuk, but I'd rather upgrade the bottom 6. Get a real 3rd line winger not Jones.

It's also crappy that both Sutton and Potter are signed. They are both pressbox guys. I like Sutton, but he should be playing 40-50 games now. Not everyday. Don't even get me started with Potter. He broke my heart after teasing me with his special Corey Power Potter Play.

don't forget that Sutton and Potter are transition players until guys like Klefbom and Marincin are ready. and i'd re-sign Hordy for one year. like how he's brought it this year.

Darcy Hordichuk - Should remain, knows his job and does it pretty well, he should get more game time.

Petrell - Worth keeping, good 4th, 3rd in a pinch liner, he reminds me a bit of Pisani.

Omark - Will be traded at the draft. I can't see him being back next year at all.

Peckham - All depends on if we bring in others Dmen but he is probably gone which is too bad, we need some sand on the blue line.

Barker - A bus ticket to the Swiss league.

Potter - Should also be on the list and be turfed to upgrade the blue line, too bad we stupidly gave him an extension before he played a full year.

I was at the game in edm where gross man and hartnell spent their time mugging hall and no one did anything about it. There have been other games where this kind of thing has happened. Tough anti fighting rules or no, we need a tough guy IMO. Be nice to have someone more intimidating but at least hordichuck fights.

Yeah, well, that's still a gamble. Who's to say Klefbom is ready in 2013 and Marincin 2014 (my hopes/guesses to when they'll get some NHL time). I'm still against putting 'raw' defenseman in the NHL. So why not address the defense right NOW, instead of waiting for the defensive help..?

That powerforward mentality is something I love (i let it be known on these boards lol). Unfortunately for him, his stints with the Oilers this season were lackluster. You can blame that on him playing 4 games in 5 nights or whatever it was. With that said, if Teemu is ready for a bottom 6 role next season, I'd rather have him start on the 4th line, not the 3rd.

If Renney is only willing to give him 4th line minutes then I'd rather see him spend more time in the AHL developing his offensive game and working on his foot speed. I know he's improved his speed and acceleration and isn't exactly sluggish anymore... I think he's a project which has come far and could go a lot further with more ice time.

4th line minutes would make me angry... kinda like MPS getting 7 minutes per night. Infuriates me.

yeah and thats what i mean, we need a ***** though, someone like barnaby was that brings the heat to anyone, not afraid to fight or take runs at the other teams stars, i get the impression that renney is holding eager back, because i saw him play in the playoffs for both SJ and Chi and he wasnt having any of that nonsense. I feel like he i being restrained by the coaches. but we need a tootoo/clifford type in our bottom 6.

That's the thing though. I only see him as a bottom 6 guy. He has great board work, plays strong and big down low, and can take the body. He really isn't ready for top 6 time. The upside is there though, he can surely become an effective complementary winger with improved skating.

It really sucked that he got a pretty big shoulder injury this season. I heard it's been bothering him all year.

i still dont mind this deal as i think he will be a high end AHL player or a low end NHL player. its not like he is getting paid a huge amount so not a big risk.

Petrell definitely needs to be back. He's a great 4th liner who can move up the lineup in a pinch.

Hordichuk I'd bring back as the 13th or 14th forward. He's able to play a regular shift much more so than a guy like SMac and adds a lot of toughness

Peckham - Bring back on a 1 year deal worth the least possible (just under 1.2 million)

Barker needs to be gone. He's as advertised, a bottom pairing offensive dman. We don't need that. Especially for his money

Omark should be back, but it's totally up to Linus

I'll pass judgement at the end of the year.

I think right now Peckham is on his way out, but all it's going to take is a stretch of 10-15 good games and management will be forced to give him another look.

Sure Potter looks like a lock to be back due to his contract, but that can change too.

I actually have nothing against having Jones as our 3rd line winger. The third line is not meant to be a large point producing line. That's what the top 2 lines are for. IMO the third line is more of a defensive line that can add some grit to the lineup and eat up some minutes. More of an energy line much like the 4th line only having more offensive upside. Jones fits that mold perfectly if you ask me. The guy is one of the hardest workers on the team. He crashes and bangs with the best of them and on top of it all he can put up some goals that you wouldn't normally see from a player of his type. He scored 18 goals last year and is on pace for around the same again this season. I think if you put him one a line with couple of guys who can find some chemistry with Jones he could become a consistent 20 goal scorer. Unless Tambo makes some serious changes to the lineup next year I wouldn't mind a 3rd line consisting of Smyth-Horcoff-Jones.

The only players that haven't been renewed for next season that I expect back are Smyth, Gagner, and Petry. And even in Gagner's case I could see him gone at the draft or July 1.

Everybody else who doesn't have a contract for next year IMO is gone.
