Either way, somebody is going in a trade.

Likely trade bait as I see it based solely on the depth chart: Brennen, Adam, Gerbe.
Agreed.

And also Agree on the trade bait scenario.

I'd just like to add that Persson and McNabb most likely get serious looks this next season in Buffalo. Since the team has moved back to Rochester, I've only caught a total of a half dozen games or so, not enough to see how he's come along since last season, but I was in Portland quite a bit then and saw Persson play, he was coming along nicely then. Thought he had finally turned the corner to the NA game style.

I just noticed that Schiestel had the primary assist on the OT winner against Grand Rapids during his first game with Texas on Wednesday.

Hopefully he keeps producing.

I hope he comes back for another year, although it seems very unlikely now.
I think some of this Schiestel-hype after he had his AHL-All-Star-season was pretty ridiculous and I never bought into that, but I still like him as a player and think he'll be able to rebound from this lost season. Losing him for nothing would be bad asset management...

He has been playing very well.

Too bad Drew Schiestel is merely on loan–the Stars have struggled on defense this season, and that kid can play.
The Stars May Be in luck as he is probably done with the Sabres org.

Why?

Seems like a pretty smart move by the organization. Instead of him wasting away in Rochester they loan him to a team where he gets big minutes. Then he can work on getting his game back in order. I don't see a down side to this as long as the reasons were clearly explained to Scheistel. If his game is back on track then they may use some of the guys above him as trade pieces to help the NHL roster. Or Schiestel himself could be moved. This looks like a smart way to try and rehab an asset.

EDIT: Its worth mentioning that his game tailed off and he lost his place in the defensive pecking order due to injuries. It wasn't bad attitude or an inability to handle the AHL level. Players returning from injury can take awhile sometimes to get back on track. They need to play for that to happen and this seems like the most realistic way for that to happen(barring injuries in Rochester).

This is just too bad.
