As I said in the other thread, I'm worried that this will prevent EK from buying that new house of his.

That was more of a $2,300 slash than a $2,500 slash in my opinion.

I always wondered why the fines are so small...Shouldn't like 50,000 or 100,000 be more appropriate for punishing players who make on average 2 million dollars a year.

Just once I'd like to see the NHL fine a guy $2,381.46 so it's a bit annoying for him to write the cheque.

What's the point of the all purpose thread if a thread is going to be made over every little thing that happens.

I posted the news first.

$2500 is the maximum fine allowed under the CBA.

The next level up for punishment that the league can hand down is a suspension.

When Emery was fined by the Sens a few years ago for missing practice, or being late (which ever it was), he was suspended by the team, and was docked pay for one day (something like $15,000). The NHLPA was going to fight it but Emery just asked that his pay be donated to CHEO and that was the end of it.

I'd like to be outraged. But I don't really care. Oh well.

I have no idea what happened, other than hearing Karlsson was trying to do too much himself, and taking selfish penalties.

No i know that. I'm asking why? When the CBA was redone, did they just throw in a bunch of the old rules without revising them? I mean, a 2,500 dollar fine seems almost pointless. Even 25,000 would MAYBE make the player think twice.

I figured people might miss it if it didn't have it's own thread. Karlsson will only get fined maybe once or twice in his whole career. Pretty big deal

Definitely deserved it, if only because he looked so petulant while doing it.

He took a slashing penalty...then what seems like the very next shift after his penalty, he dangles 2 players (one twice) coming out of his zone and one of the guys(bergenheim) clipped his legs not allowing him to complete that deke, so he slashed his leg. Bergenheim cried wolf acting like his leg might have to be amputated...then he played on the pp.

I agree, its a silly number.

I'm wondering if I can punch a coworker in the face and get charged a pro-rated similar amount - something like $10. I'll try it this afternoon, I have a list of possible victims

The fine isn't important. Who cares about that. The problem is that now if he does anything else in the future, he's a 'repeat offender'.

Shanahan should be ashamed of himself. That play was worth a 2 minute penalty, which is what he received.

The NHL is becoming a bit of a farce with these discipline decisions. There is absolutely no consistency. The cheap shot on Alfie by Wolski received nothing, but a slash gets sent straight to the Head Office? WTF?

2500 is such a joke in NFL people get fined 25000 for wearing the wrong colored shoes.
