If there's a too close to call option I would have voted that

Plekanec can play well in all zones. He has got a couple seasons of 60-70 pts. Grabovski has never crossed the 60 pts mark. Plekanec cost the Habs 5M while Grabovski cost the Leafs 5.5M. the answer is easy: Plekanec.

That's irrelevant.

I would give Plekanec the slight edge, my answer could change if Grabo continues to dominate. But people saying AINEC are just being homers.

The only thing Pleks has over Grabo is his defensive attributes.
One is having a bad year while the other is on a career year though. When Pleks was 25 and 27 he had 69 and 70 point seasons. Plekanec has led two playoff teams in scoring with 70 points and 57 points last couple seasons. He does it facing the toughest opposition competition. He didn't have a Kessel line ahead of him to take the opposition shutout line. This season he's not getting much in terms of linemates in the 2nd half due to injuries and it's definitely affecting his numbers. He's good offensively, but he's not a star player that can produce with no help. I wouldn't be so certain that Grabovski is that much better offensively if at all. That's not to say he's a bad player, he's very good and this is a close comparison.

Well if you want to look at +/-, Plekanec was +8 just last season leading all Habs forwards and while playing 20+min/game.

By using a small sample size of just this season we can make Desharnais > Grabovski.

Plekanec easily.

Grabovski is having a great season however I prefer Plekanec and what he brings. We should have both but Gainey had too many brilliant ideas

Plekanec easily.
He had 3 seasons of 57+ points while Grabovski never cracked 58.
Plus Plekanec is better deffensively.

Plekanec is a little better but Grabos younger and plays with more jump, I think Grabo can continue to slowly improve into his 30s and maybe pass Plekanecs level of play.

This thread creeps up every once in a while and the result is always the same, some Leafs fans take Grabovski and everyone else take Plekanec.

That said, I never thought Grabovski would become as good as he is now when we traded him for a second round pick, good for him and the Leafs.

And Seguin is the best defensive forward in the league. +/- is mostly a team stat and this Habs team is terrible. He's still very efficient on the PK.

People are saying AINEC because they're smart. Plekanec get's more points playing with significantly worse players while being one of the best two way forwards in the league. Grabo is a one-way forward who doesn't even beat him in that aspect alone.

If they are similar offensively then all you need to do is take a look at the PK on both teams. Plekanec leads the #1 PK and Grabovski doesn't even play on the PK, which is last place. Maybe it would be better but who knows, they don't seem willing to try him on it when it's already last.

It's a lot closer then it was a couple yeras ago though.

Only on HF would a player with a career high of 58pts is better offensively than a player with a season of 70 points and another of 69pts, all before 28 years of age. (Grabovski's age)

Plekanec is 29 years old and has had seasons of 70, 69 and 57 points.
Grabovski is 28 years old and has had seasons of 58, 48 and 35 points.

And we are saying that Grabovski is better offensively? OOOOkkkk

Plekanec blows out Grabovski defensively with his PK skills and all around game.

Plekanec wins this poll.

Thank you.

Grabovski is an energy player and better offensively. I'll take him. Also plays a shutdown role against other teams best lines.

Pleks but it's close. And people saying Grabo is not a good defensive forward clearly never watched Leaf games.

Whoever said getting scored on on the PK doesn't get you a minus, it does. Your plus doesn't change if you score but if you're a scored on you do in fact get a minus.

If your team is on the PK, you do not get a minus for being scored on. If you score a SHG then you do get a + and the opposing team gets a minus.

Its pretty much established that Plekanec is better offensively and defensively. What more do you want. Correct answer is Plekanec. I do not even really see how you could make a good case for Grabovski over Plekanec.
