I think its very close to the same thing. I dont hear people insulting country x. If anything they are saying we want guys from the city as Burke himself said they play up to their home fans.

Why do people keep taking the bait from this idiot (cup67). He only comes on here to troll and get in arguments with whoever replies to his nonsense.

Just like Carlyle said, it wasn't the offence that was the problem it was the defence.
We scored enough goals to win the game but once again our defence was exposed and abused. Can't wait till next season for the players to have a better understanding for Carlyle's and Farrish's system.

I also think Gardiner will have a shorter leash with Carlyle than he did with Wilson. The dude has great offensive instincts but defensively he has a ways to go.

Not even close to the same thing. I'm telling this as a guy who's one of those "not good Canadian boys". This **** constantly comes up here and is offensive. Why do mods let this garbage slide?

Yeah, he was traded.

When Parent went to the WHA in 1972, his team folded and he wanted to come back to the Leafs, and was willing to accept the Leafs final offer before he left. But Ballard, idiot that he was in all things hockey, decided to play hard ball and offered him a lower salary, leaving G.M. Jim Gregory no other option but to trade him.

Jonas Gustavsson let's in another 5 goals. I'm always surprised when I read his stats line and see his GAA isn't 4.00+. The guy just can't be consistently solid. He's either spectacular or spectacularly bad.

A truly awful second period is the main thing that cost us the game. Not blaming Gustavsson, even though he did let in somewhat of a softy, as we just played poor defensively for large portions of the game. Boston continued to dominate in our zone as they had in the previous games - it seems like wherever we go, a Boston player's there. They know to be very physical and aggressive on the forecheck and cover the boards, and they're pretty good at one-on-one battles whereas that's a weakness of ours.

I don't know why it is, but all too often when we're pressured in our zone, even when we have full control of the puck, we end up turning it over or just getting it out, where the opposition takes it and regroups. Is it players responding poorly to the pressure of the other team's forecheck, the defensemen not making the right plays, the forwards not being open? Not sure, but all too often that's what costs us, and Boston has this situation fully exploited.

are you sure... that doesn't sound like Pal Hal.

would have been nice to have ol' Bernie around with that young group in the late 70's. Although I did love the popcorn kid.

I don`t pay attention to all his activities. In case you guys didnt notice a lot of Leaf fans like to rant and get pissed when their team looses. At least it shows they care.
Let me give you a scenario:

Leafs lose - Burke is ripping phone books in half angry or Burke is rainbows and dreaming of future sunshine. I would like to see the first option just cause its funny.

Who's to say Kessel won't change for Carlyle?
This year he has already taken a big leap defensively and has worked very hard in the off season. As long as the rest of the guys follow Carlyle's way I'm sure Kessel will aswell.

When the defense allows everyone to walk in and get glorious chances on goal it's no wonder our goalies keep getting scored on.
