June 2012, hopefully. Keep in mind we could be picking inside the top 5 the way things are shaping up, and the tank gods seem to be working in their favour for now...

Naw Leafs will win a few meaningless games at the end to finish with a #7-8 pick.

Thats the way things work with this franchise.

You've got to remember that before the lockout it was damn easy to sign for big name guys, we controlled the market with an unlimited supply of $$$$.

We've had lots of tier 2 type players, Damphousse, Potvin, Antropov, Kaberle etc.

Clark is the last real "star"

Drafting a higher #1 pick who is a forward will deflect attention from Kadri.

The kid is skilled, and is playing well in the AHL.

If we get that 1st line C in the draft this year, people can relax on Kadri being a first liner. He's a 2nd liner already IMO.

So if the Leafs become good, Kessel would be a god, right?! People whine and complain as if Kessel is the problem on this team when he's only one of a few bright spots.

You really gotta give it up to the likes of EDM recently and Pitt in the recent past.

Its damn hard to finish last.... DAMN hard. You really have to have worthless, no talent players who are hopeless in earning their next pay check, or a bunch of young guys in over their head.

Thats sad but hey we can always sign a bunch of star players thru free agency right?

Ooops forgot this franchise doesnt even have that going for them. When was the last time this franchise signed a legit in there prime free agent? Im talking like all star or elite type talent.

I'm curious as to how old you are... cause I'm in my early 20's and know that Roberts and Mogilny had very solid careers long before they became leafs.

Mogilny was named to the All-Star team the year before he signed with the Leafs and wasn't 15th in scoring in his second year. Hardly past his prime...

The guy hadn't played more than 60 games in 3 seasons before New Jersey!

And he had a 127 point season in Buffalo, and another 100 point season in Vancouver!

I'm not saying he wasn't a good player, he was great for us, and for New Jersey but he was past his prime for sure.

The question was when was the last time the Leafs signed a player in his prime, with his best years still ahead of him, at the top of his game.

The answer to that is Curtis Joseph.
