sorry. sorry. I'm... idk how to say it but short tempered after witnessing this breakdown, then having fans from the swampland show up after the 3rd period. Blagh. But like I said... have some depth, bring erixon up just to help out when needed or way Woywitka sometimes. Dont keep low minute guys like stralman out. give McD a rest. give G a bit of an easier night. Let Staal back on the 1st pair... yknow... and get richards on a line with Gaborik or something... something with firepower.... Skill passer/playmaker + grinders= usually bad.
It's all good, brah. I agree with everything except calling up Erixon. I think that's actually a very good idea giving Staal 1st pairing minutes, that would really help MCD be more rested for the playoffs while getting Staal more caught up to speed. I wouldn't want to bring up Erixon though because rookie D-men can't just jump into the season this late. Besides the lack of minutes would hurt him more than help. Let him continue to eat up minutes in the AHL until next season where he can start on the third pairing and work his way up to the second while adjusting to the NHL level of play at a more reasonable pace.
No, they were outplayed most of that game. I guess they played ok in our 4-3 shootout loss. Closest thing to a decent thing we had to a decent game against them. Biggest thing thing that bothers me is that the Devils are just not that good. They have good spurts, but they're not that good.
I guess my point is that its not about NJ...its about us. We're getting outplayed by almost everyone lately. We're just not playing good hockey..whether its a slump, the team being tired or a combo.
If the team can get right again, NJ is not a team that I'd be scared of.

Also agree with the erixon thing. Maybe Im jumping the gun. Staal needs his minutes back. I feel like his effectiveness is not at full yet too.
Is it blasphemy to say that OV is my #1 ahead of Kovy or do I need to pull up the league leaders for this season to form my opinions?
Your picks don't have to necessarily be league leaders but it would help if they were on the same planet as the league leaders. I mean when you're tied for 52nd in points like Ovi is that certainly doesn't help his case. I'm not by any means saying points are everything, but we're talking about a guy who is tied for 52nd.

The team has been outplayed in many games this season. It's nothing new.

There is a lot of fluctuation in statistics when you view it season to season. And Ovechkin and Kovalchuk certainly put up numbers so its moot.

Pretty much, yeah that's blasphemy. If there was an endless pit near us I'd have to kick you in it.
I joke I joke.
Really thought I'm not sure how it's arguable that Malkin and Crosby aren't the top two players in the league. The only thing controversial about them being the top two is who is number 1 and who's number 2.
Ovechkin hasn't put in an elite season in over two years now. Crosby hasn't played much in two years, but when he does he lights it up. Ovechkin doesn't have an excuse.
Gimme a break. Should Lundqvist thank Torts for the "6 Goalie Defense" this season then?
Although I disagree about the "Marty should thank Lemaire for his numbers" comment, the 6 goalie defense is even more of a joke.
It's not like Hank faces 17-18 shots a night, he faces 30 with 6-7 good scoring chances a game half of those coming off deflections from his own players body parts.
Today I learned Scott has no purpose on this team, and that we wasted a pick on him. I've always hated Cam "oops I forgot my neck at home" Janssen, and Scott looked terrible against him.
If Michalek, Hartnell, and Vrbata can have stastical boons then why can't Ovechkin have a bit of a dip without concluding that he is a shadow of his former self?
The rough stretch we have hit is alarming but it could always be much worse. Unlike some of these teams going through a cold streak, we are still winning games which is always reassuring. Regardless, the play needs to improve if we are to run deep into the playoffs.

Meh, don't mistake "outplay" with our style of play. The Rangers this year have found success by covering the high scoring areas and forcing opponents to take low-quality, perimeter shots. They are in their own zone more often than not, but this is by design almost. That's why we regularly look like we're "outplayed". Today we genuinely were, I'm not denying that, but this has been how we have succeeded. We give teams more time in our offensive zone, but also take away the best opportunities there (when it all works, which it usually does). Having Lundqvist in net also makes this strategy extra effective.

I can name 10 players I'd rather have and say are better
Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Datsyuk, Chara, Weber, D. Sedin, H. Sedin, Lundqvist, Rinne
