I think a lot of us don't see this team getting to the Cup Final and winning it, not with this offense. That doesn't mean that we aren't excited, just that we see flaws and by next season hopefully they're rectified making us an even better team and hopefully by then a Cup favorite.
I talked to Tony about it last night at the game. We both agreed that if this team got deep into the 2nd, it's a very successful season. I personally wasn't expecting what this team has done to this point so I'm shocked. I still don't think they get to the SCF though. That's not to say they can't because IMO they can but the Bruins and Pens are the two best teams in the conference and will be tough to get through in a 7 game series. Still keeping my expectations in check with the team we have on the ice, not what the standings say.
We lived through many a number one eastern conference seed seasons that resulted in first round knock-outs. Control your expectations.
Content aside, I was just bashing the guy for being a terrible writer.
I mean, I write for my school's newspaper and it's really not the hardest thing in the world to put together an interesting, composed, grammatically correct article of that length.
I just think it's funny how much they're concerned with us. Why they looking behind themselves? I think it would be hilarious if we caught them, though very unlikely.
devils are not catching the rangers. the opportunity was there when we went 9-1-1. the rangers to their credit have not had any losing streaks this season, they deserve credit for consistency. the devils have not caught enough breaks this season. if you just look at past 7 games we have 4 points or so and could have easily had 11. so lets just make playoffs. teams i don't want in first round:

pitt scares despite the fact we have matche up well against them in recent seasons. they seem to have some real firepower and that is without sid. they have been quietly flying under the radar like the devils a bit. quite frankly i would welcome a first round match with the rangers, as long as lundquist isn't in god mode i think they can be beaten
That is the order of teams you would WANT to play right
I'd agree with that, though a feel shorter trips to a cold Fla would be more ideal then those long trips to a hot and fired up Jets, that building is going to be insane if they get in.
I give Pitt all the respect they deserve, but I don't think it is this anywhere a nightmare matchup even if Sid is back, we can beat MAF. Though I'd much rather be the 4 seed if it HAS to be Pitt. 6 seed is fine by me, just stay the hell out of that 7.
I'm still saying Devils won't make the playoffs cause when I talk about playoffs they lose, and the last thing we need is another loss to the Islanders!
Hypothetically speaking I would rather face the Rangers than the Bruins.
We just aren't destined to match up against the Bruins. Came close to beating them the last game, and came close the first time we played them this season. If we knew how to clear the zone we may have beat Boston this last time. Carolina probably has a better chance of beating Boston in a playoff than we do. I mean for gods sake they beat them 4 times this season!
You would think the Bruins would be a better matchup, because they're breaking down a lot lately, Thomas has been giving up way more goals than he usually has, and they aint blowing out teams 7-2 anymore.
Yeah, Boston is one match-up I don't want the more I think about it. I mean this team (Boston) was losing like crazy, played NJ and beat them (albeit after a good comeback) and then went right back to losing to teams like the Islanders. I just think they have our number right now but that being said, I wouldn't be all that surprised if we beat them but would rather play someone else

We do seem to torch Fleury every time we see him, but I agree, I have no desire to see the two-headed monster of Malkin and Crosby rip through our ramshackle defence. Philly is probably the better matchup.
