Didn't Pronger also not have a concussion the first couple days after getting hit by Grabovski's stick? Voracek is far from out of the woods. We'll see how he feels in the next few days and determine what his immediate future is.
I don't think Pronger was ever tested for a concussion until his symptoms started showing. Concussions happen right away, it's the symtoms that take time to show.
Concussions really can't be predicted. Sometimes the smallest innocent looking bumps cause concussions. Sometimes players take huge shots to the head and walk away fine. Bouwmeester bumps Gagne and Gagne is concussed for like a year. Campbell levels Umberger and RJ only misses 1 game and is never diagnosed with a concussion.
Even if it's a clean hit, why the hell didnt go after Kronwall right away. I was at the game and was a little let down that there wasn't immediate retaliation. just saying.
Basically, the science and medicine behind concussions is poorly understood. One man can take a devastating hit and not be concussed, another can trip and fall to the group and be out for a long time.
The Flyers, for better or worse, have had a tremendous amount of experience with concussions this season. To me, Giroux, Read, JVR, Briere, etc. lend confidence that the Flyers are getting their stuff together on the concussion front. Outside of Pronger (and really, I still don't think they were being told the whole truth there), they've done exceptionally well at diagnosing, treating, and not having concussion relapses upon returning.
Are we officially most goals scored and most man games lost?
Still not quite there in man games lost, I think, but given the Pronger and JVR injuries, it's suggested that we'll get there unless another team ahead sustains a serious longterm injury.

IMO the Hanzal hit a few days later in the corner is what did pronger in. He didn't go down, but he got rocked against the boards.
If Voracek isn't concussed, then it basically means he got his bell rung and kept him out just in case. Considering how awkward Jagr went down, just get it healed and come back 100%. Don't rush it please, Jagr.
Yea, they need to be really careful with this... I would rather he be out next game as a precaution.. just the way he held out his arms after the hit, you know there was some damage done.
yeah I am not holding my breath on this one. That was quite the shot he took. He may not feel it tomorrow or the next day. Hopefully they keep an eye on him and he is honest about everything.
He won't have concussion. He likely has whiplash, which can sometimes give very similar results, but obviously not as dangerous. I bet he's out for the next 2 games then is back fine and dandy after that. Great hit. Thats what hockey is about. Pick you head off your chin next time vora!
Oh sure voracek doesn't have a concussion, until he gets hit hard the next game he plays and then goes out for the rest of the season with PCS. Rest him for a few days, then let him go hard in practice and see if he's fine. You can go about your daily life and not have symptoms, but as soon as you do vigorous exercise you start getting headaches.

I'm not commenting on the Hit specifically, but in a general sense, why whould players who dish out big hard CLEAN hits expected to have to fight right after?
Thats becoming a problem in the NHL, you can't hit anyone hard without the fans wanting a penalty and the opposing team trying to goon squad you.
As for the Kronwall hit, the first point of contact is the face. Judging from Shanny's videos to date, people havent been suspended for hits to the head when the initial point of contact was the shoulder, chest etc. It'll be interesting to see how he views this one as it was a direct hit to the face.
I have no idea how some of Knonwalls hits have not gone punished. He has many big hard clean hits, but just as many dirty hits to the head and is a blatant head hunter.
