For everyone clamoring for Dustin Tokarski to get a shot, here it is. Yzerman, though, said he also will scour Europe for free agent option
So any idea who he could get from Europe?

Riku's team has 3 games left and then playoffs.

Does this mean the Lightning have no confidence in Tokarski's abilities at the NHL level? Is he labelled a career AHLer?

No, it's just against Yzerman's belief to push young prospects into a position like this.

I think more along the lines of they don't think he's ready to step in yet and don't want to destroy Norfolk's Calder Cup chances.

They want him to get playing time and don't want him riding the pine.

This is a bummer for Norfolk for 2 reasons. Tic is our number 1 so of course we are bummed about him getting called up during a 12 game win streak, but thats the nature of the beast of being an AHL team. Also Tic is set to break all Admirals goaltending records. He is currently tied with Michael Leighton for 8 wins in a row and 75 overall wins for the Admirals. And on Friday Norfolk is playing in Adirondack and Leighton is scheduled to start for Adirondack friday so it would have been cool to see Tic break the records against the guy that set them.

Other than that, I hope Tic gets to start. in Norfolk we get the CSN feed that plays all the Caps games so we will get to see him, even if its pine riding... which is always super cool.

I am so stoked to see Tokarski get a shot at the big times!

Forget the Calder cup, and I hope Tokarski plays lights out and shuts Stevie Y up with his take your time GM attitude. This is a great chance to get him some NHL experience and see what he's got. I hate hearing he isn't ready, I've been ready to see him suit up for us since the first of the year.

This is a great opportunity, and I hope he plays really well. It would be awesome if he led us into the playoffs, make Stevie look sillier than he did trading away Downie (say what you will, I hated him trading Downie).

Also, is it Tic or Tik? I was spelling it Tick, seemed phoenetically correct and it was the spelling of the show character. Tic doesn't seem like it has that same sound, and I don't know about Tik. Tick seems to make the most sense.

Either way, I'm loving the call up! I'll be really pissed if Steve goes and gets a guy from Europe just so Tokarski can go back to the AHL.

Rational me says: "Start Roli...If he lets in 3 goals..Pull him and put Tic in..."

We have shown we can score goals, but we can't be a heavyweight contender and go blow to blow with teams...

Irrational me says "Start Tic"

I would also love to see Tic but doesn't seem like it will be the case.

Maybe Fredrik Norrena? Finished the season yesterday and got experience from the NHL.

It's Tic... whenever the whistle blows he turns and taps the top of the goal net twice, once on the left and once on the right, every time, I guess he did it in juniors so much that they said he had a tic (here's the wiki definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tic) so no K, just Tic.

Don't let Roloson near the net.

DC seems to be kind of hinting at Tik starting Thursday or Saturday. I am on board with that. If he's going to be up here, might as well play him. Couldn't do much worse than a .878 save %. Might as well bring back Denis with those numbers.

I wouldn't be against bringing Riku over when his season is done and give him the bulk of the starts the rest of the way. I get the urge to see how tic can do at the NHL level but why destroy his confidence when this team is (probably) going nowhere this year?

Thoughts?
I think he can be at worst a backup in the league..I've always been hesitant to think of him as a #1 and future of the club. I'd like to see him be more consistent in the AHL.

I approve. Love it!

But start Tic, what's the worst that will happen? He lets in 3 goals in the first period? Seriously with Roli's play this season he looks like an AHLer out there anyways

Ooh, this is the kind of search I like.

Names that come to mind:

Tomas Popperle - Sparta Praha
Martin Gerber - Vaxjo
Freddy Norrena - Linkoping
Erik Erberg- Ufa
Tobias Stephan - Geneve-Servette

Robert Esche has fallen off the face of the Earth. He went from 'best goalie not in the NHL' to 'sub .900 sv% in Switzerland'.
