edit: Come on guys rally up! Just think how happy Legionnaire would be to come back to the board to see all our love and support.
Normally I never do change my avatar, but I respect Leg that much -I'm an old timer here myself, I remember the original style of the boards. Leg was one of the first posters who I ever paid attention to, simply because it was him posting. There haven't been many others I can say that about to this day and the only one who jumps to mind is Tonellisghost.
OMG! I am so overwhelmed by all your support and kind words. I am sitting here crying that some of you have even changed your avatar I am so touched and I know Legion will be so touched when I tell him tomorrow.
As of today, it is confirmed he does have ARDS. Prognosis is 50/50 at best right now. He remains on vent support. He is runing a high temp. He is a fighter though. He is on maximum sedation but awake today and in 4 point restraints so he does not pull out any tubes. He seemed happy when I told him about the well wishes from the board and I know he will be more touched tomorrow. He understood what I was saying to him and would nod his head yes or no. He is on heavy duty antibiotics. His chest x-ray was slightly improved today when compared to yesterday but it is wait and see, day to day.
They were able to stop the medication for blood pressure support today. Anything can happen. I'm hoping for the best. I just want him to get well.
Thank you again everyone for the thoughts and prayers! It means so much.
Thanks for sharing this with everyone. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Stay strong and keep encouraging him to fight, we all know he is a fighter.
I've lurked on here for a long time. Read a lot of posts and posted a few. Thank you for the update. Dooney. I've always respected Leigionnaire's posts. All the best to him from Ottawa. I look forward to reading about his recovery.
I don't know him but I remember his posts from when I first started here, mainly from that distinct avatar. My thoughts are with him and hope for a quick recovery. Stay strong!!
Someone with a twitter account should tweet this thread to some of the players, let 'em know what they're playing for. Because really, win or lose, we're all in this together and the guys on the ice should know that. And to be totally honest, I think I've met Legionnaire once at a draft day event, but I wouldn't know him to see. I don't even post that much anymore, and I'm not sure how many times I've had direct exchanges with him. But that doesn't matter, because I've read his posts for years, and we're all part of the community. We're all brought together by our shared passion, and I think that community ultimately transcends any one us even as it remains anchored in all of us. So, when one of us is down, we're ALL down, and we won't really be okay again until Legionnaire is back on his feet.
Liverpool is not my first choice in football teams (Come On You Spurs!), but I think this song is really appropriate about now:
Can we sticky this thread for a little while mods, at least until we get more of an update on his long-term prognosis? I'd hate to see it fall off the front page because you know, out of sight, out of mind.
Well worth that sticky. Good luck Legionnaire.
This support for a longtime member with all the lion avatars is awesome, it certainly always was one of my favourite avatars on hf. He is one of the best posters. We want you to come back Legionnaire!

Thank you everyone so much. I wish I could personally respond to each and every post.
I know your T&P's are going far. He is fighting
I went on my lunch break to visit him today. He had a very restless night and was sleeping finally when I got there but woke up. I told him about the board here. His eye's got wide as saucers and then filled with tears. He wanted to talk but the vent prevented it. I just sobbed. I know he was so overcome with the love and support. He really felt like....Well...I think he obviously has it all wrong. I told him to keep fighting this bad infection and when he is stronger and the tubes are all out, I will bring his computer to the hospital for him to see this and how special he is for himself. He seemed calmer.
They were going to try and extubate him today but then changed their minds as he is only sating about 89% on 50% O2. He is breathing on his own on the vent which is good. The plan right now is to extubate tomorrow, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that will happen.
I'm probably just going to stay home tonight and try and get some rest myself and let Leig get some rest too. I will call and check on him later. TY all again. Bless you all.

Just called the hospital for an update. He is sleeping and getting needed rest. He is not running a temp and his vital signs look good. He is now satting 100% on 50% O2 on the vent which is great. I'm hopeful they will get him off the vent tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying. I just woke up after catching the last few minutes of the game tonight. I'm so exhausted and as much as I would like my work to be on hold during all of this, sadly it is not. At least I can telecommute from home which really helps. Sorry, if I talk into much medical speak. I forget that I'm an RN and sometimes a little bit of knoweldge for me is to much
