Sure. These guys make more in handful of NHL games than they do in an entire season in the AHL.

If a player would prefer to be in the AHL he should just retire and do something else. That is just lame excuses.

No different than you implementing that this sends a bad message to Marlies players.

I am 100% certain that Dallas Eakins and Brian Burke now how to deal with callups and keeping morale up. The only ones likely expecting a chance maybe Kadri, Colborne and possibly Mueller and guaranteed they were spoken to and explained the situation. These guys are professionals and know how it works.

Why am I not surprised that certain posters would see this in a negative way.

Is it really that big of a deal that they bring up Ashton? Seems like some of you complain about everything..

Anyways, I hope Lupul's not out for long, but am looking forward to seeing Ashton.

Not surprising though as Burke has to shown off his latest.
Eakins recommended Ashton.

Does this count as the last call up or would this be teated as an Emergency one?

I just can't believe the brass wants to take a look at this kid in the NHL to see how far away he truly is, or close, so they can plan for the future. Irresponsible!

Makes sense. Give him a few games to see where his development is at. The best way to do that is against NHL level talent. We've already given Kadri/Colborne some time here, we know where they are. Now it's Ashton's turn.

I like all the whining about them taking him over Kadri/Colborne. They probably just want to give him a look to see where he's at.

By the way, in a bit of relevance, I actually interviewed him on Saturday, if anyone hasn't seen it.

This. Very interesting though.

Did Ashton get any games in with the Marlies? If so how'd he do?

Mueller is far more deserving than both Kadri and Ashton.

I get they probably want to test Ashton a bit for next year, but Mueller has been playing his ass off lately.

Either way I'm fine with Ashton getting a call.

Let Kadri get top minutes for a Calder cup contender.

Lol at the guy who said its about the Marlies wanting to keep a key player.... the Marlies have so much depth that they were fine with having their best D Holzer sit in the press box for the leaves for a better part of a month.

I dont know what to say. Leaf management has to callup the player they believe is best suited to step into the big club. Kadri's NHL experience kills Ashton's 0 NHL games so they obviously think Ashton can bring more to the table maybe defensively. It is still mind boggling.

Do you remember when frattin and colborne got into the last game of the year last year? I remember hearing them say numerous times how much that helped them over the summer and heading into training camp..Ever think maybe thats what there doing with ashton?

It is hilarious how people always find a way to turn it into a negative.

I to agree it is crazy that the Leafs want to take a look at their new prospect at the NHL level, this is just sheer madness.
