That's a fantastic brawl some of those guys were genuinely beside themselves.
My personal favorite moments:
- 1:40 Blue goalie tries to drop both gloves at the same time, fails on both sides
- 1:50 Random shot of the crowd, looks like it was made in a studio and then spliced in during post-production
- 1:55 Blue goalie steps back, throws his jersey aside like a champ, tosses his greasy mane around for the cameras, then turtles immediately on contact
- 2:02 Blue goalie actually attempts to pull white goalie by his chest protector strap
- 2:16 Gloved punch to the face over the linesman
If you can't tell, blue goalie AKA Scott Hartnell is my favorite.

Actually the white goalie was grabbing him by his hair...
Ads on jerseys aside...I have watched a lot of games in this league, and while I can't speak for the atmosphere at other arenas, but in Zagreb, where Medvescak (the blue team) plays, is unreal. The fans start singing 30 mins before the game starts, continue through the entire game, and then after the game as well. Win or lose.
Having been at Game 7 Leafs/Kings in Toronto in '93, in Carolina in '02 Leafs/'Canes, I can honestly say that the atmosphere at those games hasn't come close to what I've experienced at these games in Zagreb.
Did they really play "You gotta fight, for your right to party" there, or is that just music mixed in by whomever posted that ?
Not mixed in...they actually played that at the arena.
5 mins before this happened my buddy asked me "do they fight in this league?" My response "nah, not really...too many fines, suspensions go with it...rarely happens". LOL.
Its rather selfish from you guys to talk so much about the adds with your teams having basically unlimited budgets. Not everyone plays in the NHL. They need sources of income. Its perfectly normal in every single European sport.
Anyway... blue number 38 (Frank Banham) got 7 match suspension and blue number 29 (Joel Prpic) got 4 games suspension. No one from red-white team got it which is a joke and fans of other teams are furious. They (KAC) are known as league's pet team and as a very rude and arrogant team. This was all about debts from the past. Last year they ended a career of one of our players.

The crowd and the atmosphere and the success Zagreb is having is part of the reason why they're in preliminary talks with the KHL about possibly joining in the future (not likely IMO; but even having talks with the Russians tells you something).
In a country which got medals in most team sports popular in this part of Europe (football, basketball, handball, waterpolo), it's an amazing feat that Hockey Club Mesvescak's game tickets have become the most sought after sporting event.
It's a huge success for the club and for hockey to grow in countries where it wasn't so popular.
...
The brawl itself was fun and started after Banham hit a guy very Neil-on-Drury like.
Suspensions will hurt Medvescak though, 4 and 7 games in the playoffs is a lot, especially compared to the joke suspensions in the NHL.
...
BTW, the blue goalie is Robert Kristan, a Slovenian who's been a notch above every other goalie in the league, Boston might as well try to bring him over and not Turco.

Aha thats what I thought too, when I heard the music I assumed they were actually encouraging fighting for a second, then I realized there wasn't a fight... until a minute later.

My intention wasn't to knock the league. The uniforms are hard to look at though. I'm sure if I watched enough games I'd get used to it.

Kristan would only sign with an NHL team if there's a Laško beer clause in his contract*.
And yes Kristan >>>> Turco.

Is that the reason behind the KHL in front of their team name?
