while this is absolutely true, that hes been the best Ranger FORWARD not named Lundqvist (Id argue all 4 of our top defenseman have been playing heroically these playoffs)

He's also made some BAD plays out there, penalty to cost us game 2 (Though it was a dive), penalty to shorten a pp in game 3. when McDonagh got rocked, Richards had the puck, and then just....fell...leading to what could have, and frankly should have been the winning goal from the Caps.

He's done a lot of good things, but hes also done a few bad things here and there.

It's starting to get to a point where it started out as trying to find some good games/moments through a sea of crap. Now it's at the point where we ate picking the bad moment out of all the good things he's been doing. Since March he's been really good. Still is prone to making mistakes but it's still a learning curve.

I wanted him here the minute I knew he was going into the last year of his contract, and knew he'd come here, and he has, for the most part, started to become the first line center that this team desperately needed.

Richards has been great. Rangers have scored 21 goals, he's had points in 9 of them.

Very good offensively, but his play away from the puck has been questionable at best. Not to mention the number of terrible penalties he's taken.

I think Brad has been great, but he has taken some un timely penalties.

He's also been logging monster ice time (20+ minutes/game for most games). He's bound to take some penalties - though, the officiating has been awful in these playoffs. 4 points in 3 games vs. Caps and pretty much every Ranger player has talked about the difference he's made in the locker room. He's been a great addition.

You can argue against the collision with Carlson, but his penalty in last night's game was sure costly and avoidable.

Yeah, to me that's not a penalty you can eliminate. When you're digging for pucks, you're going to get a skate once in a while. The timing was unfortunate, but it wasn't a careless high-stick or a lazy hook.

I see it like a shot blocking defenseman occasionally deflecting one past his goalie. It will happen, but you can't stop blocking shots like you can't stop digging for pucks.

He seemed stale for a while during the season but has definitely redeemed himself. I wish the Richards/gabs/hags line that showed magic for a few games would come back, but regardless he is doing well.

IMO so has Callahan. Some of the one's Callahan took were not as costly, but he has taken several undisciplined penalties.

Right now, Richards, IMO, has been our best forward throughout the playoff run. 2nd best player behind Lundqvist. IDC if he only registered 66 points in the regular season, because right now he is living up to his playoff resume. Without him we don't win the first round and we aren't up 2-1 in this series.

I think Richie's been amazing this postseason, but was anyone else bothered by the brutal attack on him that partially led to Brouwer's super shank(I think)?

We need to suspend the culprit.

That culprit?

GRAVITY.

The man ate **** so hard behind the net and then flailed his stick aimlessly. Scary yet hilarious.

richards has been a monster, but its no surprise, this is what he does in the playoffs. everytime i question whether we can go all the way this, i think to myself "hey wait a second! we got brad richards!" he reminds me, dare i say it, of messier...

once we survived the first ot the other nite i felt like we were gonna win and i was 100% convinced richards would be involved somehow with the game winner, whether scoring it or setting it up.

He got his pocket picked and made a lazy play to retrieve it. Offensive zone penalty with less than 4 minutes left in the game is inexcusable no matter what you want to compare it to.

Richards looks like the guy from the original Terminator movie. The guy that ends up being John's father.

Said it right in the middle of the season, this guy will come up huge and be our best forward.

Proving me right.

He willed this victory tonight. He gave 1000% out there at the end of regulation.

Callahan made a great play to steer Delzotto's shot back towards the net before Richards popped it in.

You know when NHL stupidly got away from those "History will be made" ads this year, and how they probably will go back to them eventually...You think this goal will make it?
