The Last Meeting:
On February 21, 1996, the Vancouver Canucks played host to the Winnipeg Jets at GM Place. The Canucks won the game 5-3 on the strength of a three point game from both Alexander Mogilny (2g, 1a), and Trevor Linden (1g, 2a). Kirk McLean made 33 saves for the victory. Craig Muni, Ed Olczyk and Mike Stapleton tallied for the Jets while Nikolai Khabibulin made 27 saves in a losing effort.
I was kind of hoping Salo would come out. He looks brutal lately and I'd like to see what Edler/Tanev look like on the ice.
Tanev/Gragnani playing the point with the twins is exciting and scary at the same time. Might be magic, might be an easy way to throw away 2 points. I guess we shall see.
Was there a source for Rome sitting? Aside from my general astonishment that AV/RB would actually do that, it's a bit surprising after he was our best defenceman last night. When I heard Tanev/Gragnani would be together, I assumed Salo was resting and Rome would move up.
This might be a good game for the team to get out of this... I think the Jets are not going to play a tight style... they let in alot of goals and can score in bunches as well.

It's assumed at the moment - Tanev/Gragnani were paired together in practice. I didn't see anything about Salo being off his pair, although that's possible. We'll know for sure tomorrow morning.
Hope we win this one - but in OT/SO so the 'peggers can get a vital point.
Ditto. Got a major soft spot for Winnipeg, they treated our prospects well over the years. I want them to make the playoffs in the East. MTS Centre would be insane.

Unfortunately I can't like the Jets at all anymore. I have a bunch of family from Winnipeg and we all grew up hating the other team. And now that the Jets are back I get to hear even more of the hate. Although to be fair, I was part of the problem which caused such hatred for both sides. As a young Canuck fan living in Winnipeg I may have crossed the line a few times in trashing the Jets too.
Now it's just a built up history among us of hating the other team. Too much of the Canucks are classless, diving biters that are the worst thing to happen to hockey, from too many Jets fans that I've come to hope for them to lose every game they play!
I hope we shut them down, beat the crap out of their team, and play a huge part in them missing the playoffs! Yup, I've built up quite the hatred for them out of this life-long rivalry (going back to 1980 now). I know that my Jets-loving family members wish even worse things for the Canucks, so I have no problem hating that team!
Needless to say I have a lot invested in this game. Don't want to go a year hearing how the "mighty Jets with the best fans in the NHL" beat up on the evil Canucks who all deserve to be shot for the betterment of the hockey world!
I would put Tanev back in. The odd man chances were the problem and the more conservative the better. The Canucks unfortunately need to win 1-0 or 2-1 like all the boring teams or not win at all. It's a league problem , not theirs. Thankfully I rarely pay to attend in person.

Too true. It's too bad our coach takes months to notice trends and adjust to them.
I was thinking of getting tickets for tomorrows game, but after seeing the performance from last night I'm skeptical of even watching the game on T.V.
Will like to see something positive out of tomorrow, think the beating they got yesterday will put screw their heads on tight.

Agree. Salo looks very tired recently. He needs to rest up for the playoffs.
