3/8/12 | Panthers @ Flyers | 7:00 EST |
Standings Florida:
Wins Losses OTL/SOL Total Points 31 22 12 74
Philadelphia:
Wins Losses OTL/SOL Total Points 37 21 7 81
Story
Season series: This is the third of four meetings between the teams this season, and first in Philadelphia.
The Flyers won their previous two meetings, most recently a 3-2 shootout win Jan. 24.
Big Story: The Panthers are desperate for points to maintain their Southeast Division lead,
but it won't be easy playing a Flyers team that has won three straight and is looking to gain points to grab home-ice advantage in the playoffs.
Who's Hot: The Panthers' penalty-killing unit hasn't allowed a power-play goal in back-to-back games, the first time Florida has done that since Feb. 11-12.
Flyers center Claude Giroux had a goal and an assist Tuesday against Detroit, giving him a career-best 77 points. The assist gave him a League-high 53.

Keep An Eye On
Ilya "Mr. Universe" Bryzgalov had a shutout versus the Capitals 3/4 and continued playing well against Detroit 3/6 stopping 37 of 39 shots, leading the Flyers to a 3-2 win.
Red Hot Cat Of The Night
Jack Skille had a 2 point game versus Ottawa and had perhaps his best game of the season.
Quotes "When you get as thoroughly outplayed as we did in the first period, I think there has to be some kind of a response," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said.
"We had a little chat and they understood there wasn't going to be any change in the way we were going to play our systems. I wasn't going to shake up the lines, it was going to come from within. To the credit of our leadership group, to our worker bees, to our team a as whole, we never gave up. The response was extremely strong." -Dineen
"You see the standings, you know there's not much room for error, we've got to know that at the end of the day if we stick with our character and play the way we're supposed to play, we'll be fine in the end. That's what we plan on doing here." -Skille

I hope the GDT doesn't mess up for anyone!
Thanks to PanthersRock & Millar for the inspiration. It is really quite the job putting a GDT together so I'm pretty thankfull for the job GDT makers do

Amazing job on the GDT! Despite the Flyers having major injury issues at the moment, the Panthers cannot take this game lightly at all. Philly's still a very dangerous team with some of the best talent in the league and they've beat us in both matchups earlier in the season. Take the lead early and don't let them come back.
LETS GO PANTHERS!!!

Let's try not to give up the first 2 goals this time. It's too stressful

This is true. But in fairness, I must admit that compared to last few years, at 0-2 I still think they might come back, while last year it was time to turn off the telly or walk out of BAC.
In fact, last year if we were up by 2, 3, 4 goals going into the second period, it was time to leave. There was no chance it was going to get any better, and a high chance it was going to get a lot uglier.
It's a bit different this year I guess...

Good job on the GDT.
It's amazing how deep Philly is, look at all those injuries, still they're able to put a good roster on the ice.

Great GDT!
Nervous about this game. Needless to say I suppose. Would be awesome to win it, but can't say I am expecting a W.

Great job on the GDT. As no one took tomorrow's game, I'll try to wait until sometime tomorrow morning to make it. Making the 2nd half of back to back GDTs can be annoying, heh.
Time to finally beat Philly!

Flyers Jaromir Jagr a likely game time decision tonight vs Panthers.
Hopefully we don't see him. I have a feeling we will need all the help we can get tonight.
