It doesn't show on the scoreboard, but the Blues really worked Anaheim that period. For the most part, the Blues transition/puck possession play was clicking at a very high level.
There's a significant difference between how fast the two teams play the game.
Cole does several bonehead plays or untimely penalties. Chalk it up for being a young kid.... I dont think he is that great generally speaking. I dont see what many fans sees out of him... I see trade bait if you want my honest opinion.
Over steps his bounds frequently... puts too much into his hits resulting in penalties... just get frustrated when it is repeatedly same gig. He needs to shape some of those issues out.
Tonight he looks pretty decent and visible. Better than some of our favorite whipping boys.

Yeah, Halak made some great saves but they were almost weird anomalies. Seems like Anhaeim is almost resigned in their play, expecting the Blues to just dominate the game. The danger in that is if they get deeper into the game and find themselves tied or ahead, suddenly they'll start thinking, we can win this one, we can maybe still fight on in this playoff chase. I think the loss to LA the other day really wounded their optimism. They seem almost disengaged. Hiller's really keeping them in it.
wow, McDonald almost gave Sbisa a close shave. The skate hit his visor pretty hard. Luckily the skate was going straight to toward Sbisa's face and not coming up like an uppercut.

I agree.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're a bit out of it mentally, because if they're at all aware of the standings they should know they're basically done at this point. I would hope that professional athletes would have the pride to play through that for the most part, but a "letdown" game or two would hardly be surprising.
If the Blues can get the first goal, I like their chances a lot in this game.
Pretty much...Can't step up in that situation. One man back if you get beat for a potential 2 on 1. I don't expect Colaiacovo to make those reads correctly every time. He's not Pietrangelo.
