ok so instead of boring everyone with a long explanation i will try to keep it short and sweet..
soo
schenn+mac+Reimer+2nd(34-42)
for
Schneider, Schroeder, 1st (26-30)
Toronto needs goalies, depth + picks never hurt.
Van gets more depth for a good playoff run, a hard hitting dman with awesome upside.. goalie on a decent contract and not that much of a downgrade on picks...
Schenn does not fit the Canucks system at all. He's not a mobile puck mover who can play the power play, we need somebody to replace Salo not somebody who is basically Aaron Rome at this point.
We already have a Clark Maccarthur making 1.7 million compared to 3.1 million who has 2 less points even though he's spent a lot of the year on the third line and battling infections. His name is Chris Higgins. Not interested in Mac or his cap hit.
Reimer no thanks we'll take our chances with Lack.
Cant see the Canucks wanting a bottom pairing with a combined cap hit of $7.8 mil.
I find it funny how the Canucks have to add Schroeder and their 1st. With Hodgson gone, I think Schroeder wont be moved any time soon.
Franson, Blacker(good puck moving prospect, probably #2 or3 behind holzer for readiness), 2nd, one of kadri/colborne/aston ?
for
Schneider, Schroeder, 1st.. ? plus we will take salary if we have to...
Personally I didn't like Franson in Nashville and still don't even though he's looked good at times in Toronto, if he's the main piece in a Schneider deal everyone in Vancouver will be pissed. Shane O'Brien played more than him in Nashville and he's been a healthy scratch for a non playoff team with a shaky defence, he is not a complete player.
Rather just keep Schroeder than bring in Blacker.
First for Kadri hell yeah but that wouldn't make the deal. Even though it does make it really tempting.

so what do you think of gunnarson? maybe something like
Vancouver has no need for this trade, Gunners durability is a concern as in the West it's a tougher game and travel, and Vancouver isn't easy on it's D man for some reason check Hamhuis and Ballard before and after coming to Vancouver. We're also loaded on the left side Edler and Hamhuis are better than Gunner so he won't be making our top 4, we have Ballard on the 3rd pairing left side, all our left hand D man play their best on the left side. Vancouver is high on Schroeder as well and he has really started to develop a strong 2 way game.
1) There isn't a defenseman on Toronto that makes sense for Vancouver, either not good enough or makes too much.
2) Gunnarsson does not have more value than Schneider, just because he plays every night doesn't mean that he has more value than one of the best backups in the league.
3) Gunnarsson shoots left, we need a right handed shot.
4) In his years with the Canucks, Gillis has shown an aversion to trading high draft picks.
5) Also, the overwhelming reason why a deal would never happen between the two teams is that Gillis and Burke hate each other and will probably never do a deal with each other.
Value-wise, the deal is way off. Just because Kadri was a top ten pick doesn't mean anything, I watched him at the world juniors and couldn't understand why he was selected that high. He's got a decent wristshot but I remember every time he went for a slapshot he missed, whiffed or fanned on them. Don't rate him highly as a prospect and would rather stay away from him.
Gillis had Schroeder in his top ten picks in his draft year and so when he fell to them in the mid-20's, they were chuffed to get him. Doubt he's moved any time soon.
If you're looking at a strictly value deal, then Toronto needs to part with Gardiner and/or Colbourne in a wider deal to get Schneider.
How far away is Kevin Connauton from being ready for some seasoning in the bigs? IMO that's who's going to replace Salo but I haven't heard much about Connauton this year, update?
