Orlov with the assist. Its nice to have a d who can actually see the play and make a pass. Carlson and Green both have awful decision making skills and Wideman is the unluckiest player in the league.

Good to see DH didn't make the same horrible OT mistakes regarding who to put out there. If he put Aucoin out there to "reward" him for scoring a goal I woulda lost it. Or a Wideman-Green pairing, yuck. A much deserved win though.

edit: Holy **** I need to stop reading these boards.

So many botched scoring opportunities. Ridiculous.

Orlov puts the puck on the target's tape. Hopefully everyone else was taking notes.

Were you not trying to read it in the weeks before Bruce was fired? I thought that was as bad as it's been since I've been lurking/posting.

Loved the hustle in the 3rd period (only one I saw due to work). Guys were flying around as Tampa went into their prevent defense. Nothing comes easy for these guys this year but they keep fighting. Awesome seeing Ovi get the winner and do his dance. Keep battling guys.

Orlov was visibly great in the 3rd period. It's awesome to see him with more confidence, it looks like his skating is picking up, making nice moves with the puck, good decisions..

And for all the things I've written about Green.. Can't deny that a healthy Green is potentially a very significant asset in transition. It's too bad the team just doesn't seem to have the players to take advantage of that right now. And I'm still scared of his health long term and 1-on-1 blunders on defense.. still, gotta give him his due.

Orlov lead the team in ice-time with 24:31 and was a +2 tonight. Kid can play.

thank god for that one. Sucks Tampa got the point, but boy oh boy did we need the 2. Now if Winnipeg can lose tonite, would be almost an ideal evening (save Ott beating NYR)

Can anyone explain to me why we don't activate our D before we're down a goal or two?

Yes, I recognize it could lead to odd man chances, but we give up a fair share of those anyway. When I see Orlov, Carlson and Green jumping up into the play and helping create chances it opens skating lanes for MP, MoJo and the Alex's. It almost lead to several game-tying third period goals.

What do we have to lose by attempting to pressure the D a bit more?

They did, the Caps were keeping pucks in left and right in the third, wasn't stupid easy outs for the Lightning like first 2 periods.

...which is exactly my question, why do we wait till we're down a goal or two to do that?

Makes 0 sense to me, especially with our offensive minded D.
