This seasons most likely a lost cause but that felt good damn good, seeing the extremely pathetic bitterness from Lightning fans makes it that much better
The only thing amazing about this was how enthused he was when he made the goal. I haven't seen him like that in a long time.
But he's made great plays before and they've done nothing. I honestly think its just a mixture of bad teammates and lack of preparation on his part. Throw in a defensive system, you've got a sub-par year for a guy like Ovechkin.

That's my point!
It was actually fun to see them win like that. It brought back great memories and the hope that maybe they can still fulfill the promise that seemed so certain just a few years ago.
I really hope this was a cathartic moment. A true turning point for the season and the team. <fingers crossed>
I have a feeling they see a prior suspension and staples his nuts to the wall so to speak. Hopefully karma kicks and gets some repayment from the Kochi, Steppan and probably a couple other hits I'm forgetting.
Posting the video that Foy put up in the main boards.
That is similar to Green's hit tonight. The player being hit is tangled up with another player that causes them to be in a less then desirable position. I will concede that Larsson did put himself out there a bit more, but I think the comparison is still valid. Cole didn't receive punishment. Anyone know if he got a call or meeting for it though?

Green has repeatedly taken far worse than that hit without any supplemental discipline.
Agreed.
Reviewing the hit I think Green actually gets in front of , who was it? Connelly? and Green's shoulder blocks the head which comes to a stop. Orlov had already made a hit with the player losing his balance and falling forward. It was a bit of a human sandwich. If Green gets anything for it I call the fix is in.
Right now the Caps have 15 games left with 9 on the road. Given our road record and the fact that we have to win the majority of the games to give us a real chance of making the playoffs, it doesn't look good.
We have to play Boston(A), Chicago(A), Detroit(A), Philly(A), Boston(A), and NYRangers(A). Yikes.
That's really the ridiculous thing. Every team around us in the standings seems to consistently put better games together while the Caps are putzing around, and yet there's still daylight.

Florida has lost 3 of 4 and been outscored 15 to 5. I would say they aren't playing that well.
I like Green aggressively supporting Orlov, coming over and finishing off Connolly who had slipped through Orlovs check. You can't sit and watch and wait, its too late. I still contend we have no better RD to mentor Orlov. Its not even close.
Green, if he is not going to score, should keep playing aggressive in the D zone. Get suspended, F Shamahan.
We gotta get the PP ironed out. Yep, Orlov Green on the points. I think Orlov may have the best slapper from the point. And we all saw goalies need to play him to shoot. Sure our PP collapsed after Nick got hurt and we still need a center to step up, but Orlov has earned a bigger look.
3 Cheers for the start of an all situation D pairing. Ok 4 on 4 or need a goal for now. We have to play Sarge and Alzner sometime.
Shanny call will be this afternoon. Do players have a chance to point out all of these similar hits that didn't receive any action? I understand the outcry, but given that Connally himself said it was a hockey hit, I would hope there is just a warning.

Green will get two games, maybe three. He probably deserves it.
Hmmm.........I don't know about that hit by Green. I thought it was pretty much frowned upon to hit a already engaged let alone hit them in the head. And I honestly don't see the comparison with the Cole hit. That player is pretty much untangled and reaching for the puck.
I think our only hope is that Shanahan mistakenly suspends Wideman instead. And then Hunter will free Erskine. Hunter will free Erskine anyhow of Green is suspended.
Delaying the inevitable means nothing unless Ted has decided that this is the season to make a final decision on George. I think the decision to keep him through next year was all but decided when Nick went down for the season.
