Manning has looked pretty solid in these 2 Games. He was really working guys in the corners and getting pretty physical on Ashton (I think it was).
He should stay until all 3 of kimmo mez and kubina return. I'd like to see if he's a better option that Gus.

Is he an emergency call up?

Have to say, as a defensive player, I'm encouraged by Manning's play. Might be better than Gus or MAB for us.

Agreed, encouraged - small sample size.

Harry Zolnierczyk was an emergency call-up, which means one forward was hurting or more likely, Jaromir Jagr’s hip is still bothering him so the Flyers wanted insurance for this game. Because of the “emergency” tag, Harry Z will not count against the post-trade deadline four call-ups. He will return to the Phantoms on Monday, according to the Flyers … Zolnierczyk was a scratch for the game just as he was last week during a call-up

Harry Z's adventures
Harry Zolnierczyk has spent a considerable amount of time in his car over the last week, logging nearly as many miles between Philadelphia and Glens Falls, N.Y., as the Flyers flew in their road game to Toronto and back.

Zolnierczyk, 24, has been living life like an elevator, up and down between the Flyers and Phantoms.

He was originally recalled on Wednesday, as a precaution in case Jaromir Jagr's hip gave him problems before Thursday's game against the Panthers. Zolnierczyk was sent back to Adirondack on Friday.

He played two games with the Phantoms, on Friday and Saturday nights, before being summoned to drive to North Jersey for last night's game against the Devils. Zolnierczyk said he arrived in Newark after 2 o'clock in the morning yesterday.

Zolnierczyk was designated both times as an "emergency recall," meaning he was forced to be sent back to Adirondack after last night's game since he was not used in the lineup. Still, Zolnierczyk isn't complaining. After playing 36 games for the Flyers this season he's just looking for another chance to crack the lineup.

"It's been a little up and down," Zolnierczyk said. "But it's always good to be up."

Teams are permitted four recalls after the trade deadline, when the 23-man roster limit is lifted, with the exception of emergency recalls. Rookie defenseman Brandon Manning is still on an emergency recall, replacing Kimmo Timonen and Andrej Meszaros, who are both "day-to-day" with lower-body injuries and were not at either game this weekend.

Eric Wellwood and Erik Gustafsson are two of the Flyers' four permitted recalls. Once the regular season ends on April 8, there is no salary-cap limit in place for the playoffs.

I dont think he has been bad, but I'd say...average? He has some of these turnovers that really make you facepalm though (always seems to turn into a good scoring chance for the other team). He has been solid otherwise though.

What goes into determining who to call up from the Phantoms? Like why Manning instead of guys like Lehtivouri, etc.? I don't really know how any of them are playing, is it all that?

Bartulis and Walker have to clear recall waivers, Bourdon's out injured, Marshall was traded and Lehtivuori returned to Europe earlier in the season. It was basically down to Manning, Kessel, Lauridsen or Jancevski. I guess Manning has been the one that's impressed the most out of them. From what little I've seen, Kessel still has a lot of work to do to improve his defensive game and Lauridsen needs to improve his foot speed rather drastically.

And Bartulis has been haunted by injuries all year. Last thing I heard was that he was suffering from concussion like symptoms.

Trust me, you guys never want to see Jancevski in a Flyers uniform

Manning really had picked up his play in the last month or so, glad he got a chance in Philly.

Manning was officially returned to the Phantoms (March 13) under rules of the emergency recall since Timonen returned to the lineup.

RT @AnthonyMingioni: Unsung hero for #Flyers this season has been Phantoms coach Joe Patterson, who had players like Manning, Bourdon, & Gustaffson ready to go.

Manning recalled.

Tim McManus ‏ @PSPhantoms
Brandon Manning scratched tonight in Syracuse. He's on his way to the Flyers.

Manning has probably been Adirondack's best D-man over the past couple months and he didn't look out of place the three games he played with the Flyers. He will be fine today(if he plays).
