both players were signed to 1 day tryouts/contracts on the last weekend of the season because the Flyers had injuries and didnt have the cap space to recall anyone from the Phantoms.
Flyers of course lost both games in regulation needing only ONE point in the final 2 games to secure home ice in round 1 against Pittsburgh.
More brilliance from Paul Holmgren.
So I looked it up. Modry dropped 42 points in 2001-02. 38 the next year, and 32 the year e that.
Then 38 with the Thrashers right after the lockout...
And then he plummeted to astronomical lows.
mine was as well haha. I found it when I was on the main boards doing one of those make a team out of a draft year. While scouring through Wikipedia to find defensemen for my team for whatever year it was, there he was with his name highlighted with the all-star color. Could not believe that that traffic cone was an all-star at one point in time.
Since the OP's question has been answered and the discussion has shifted to Vandermeer/Modry, I'll just take it from there.
Wasn't it "fun" in 07/08 when everyone was onto Vandermeer for pretty much being the worst defender to ever wear the orange and the black (exaggerated) and we all were so happy to have gotten rid of him? We got Modry and everybody was quite sure he was an upgrade (how couldn't he be?) and GKJ posted something along the lines of "I follow the Kings closely, I've seen Modry play, he's worse than Vandermeer. Trust me, he's worse, he's just so ****ing slow." and nobody heeded his words since we got rid of Vandermeer and nobody is worse than him. After 2-3 games we knew GKJ was right and our defense was stuck with Modry's slow ass. Well, just remembering some "good" times as a Flyers fan.

What creeps me out even more than you remembering that, is the fact that I actually remember that.
