I'd rather see White and Handzus fight so they are taken off the ice for an extended period of time.

Zeus got his ass handed to him by Fisher in that Sens-Flyers brawl, so i'm pretty sure the next one puts him into retirement.

He was the worst player in the Detroit series, and the best player in the Vancouver series.
And getting mad makes doing it that much harder. The call out had nothing to do with the difference. It was matchups. Detroit has Marleau's number and has had it for years. Check the stats, his numbers when playing in Detroit (when Babcock has last change) are pathetic and Babcock is an excellent matchup coach.

Oh god... captain jackass opened his mouth again... According to Roenick Marleau should be one of the if not the best player in the world.

Wasn't there rumors that Roenick didn't train hard until he was in his thirties and by then it was too late? I can guarantee you that Marleau will have the ability to have a far longer career and still be able to hold a top six spot. If he wanted to I think Marleau could play into his forties. This is because he actually works hard.

Getting angry and gripping the stick harder does not help goals go in. If you aren't scoring you are frustrated about not scoring the last thing you want to do is get angry.

Frustration leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering

Hes not asking Marleau to carry the team. JR is simply stating he would like to see some emotion out of Patty. Not fighting, not screaming, just some emotion. And I agree with JR 100%

extrapolated for a full 82 game season, Marleau's current scoring pace would see him finish with 32 goals and 65/66 points. Not spectacular numbers, and it would be the 2nd worst total he's posted since the lockout.

But with that said, they're not terrible numbers and at the end of the day Patrick Marleau slightly underperforming is the least of the team's problems. It makes no sense to single him out even based on an expectation that he should be more responsible given his salary or profile or his share in the offensive workload. Patrick Marleau putting up the higher numbers more in line with his career highs (somewhere in the high 70s/low 80s), that marginal amount of improvement is not likely turning around this team.

And to the idea of him not being angry/intense, so what? Not everyone is like that. As has been pointed out, plenty of mellow players are viewed as commensurate playoff performers and leaders. And plenty of intense, angry, fierce competitors don't win jack.

And as a semi-aside, I know everyone loves angry Joe, but it seems like people forget that Angry Joe makes bonehead moves and it's been noted in the past (wish I could find those posts) that our record with Angry Joe is not necessarily that much better than with Mellow Joe.

Maybe JR just hates him. Maybe he knows something we don't. But hanging any of the failure of the 11-12 San Jose Sharks on Patty's lack of emotion or fire is ridiculous.

datsyuk gets angry. i've seen quite a few playoff games with the wings, in san jose and in anaheim, and when the wings are down datsyuk is all over the place.

i'll never the last few minutes of game 2 against the wings in the 2010 playoffs. datsyuk was running around without a helmet hitting anything that moved and then had a massive battle with thornton in front of the net for position (and won the battle, mind you).

i don't think the problem is specific to marleau... it's something i've noticed in the entire team this year. they all seem a bit detached. last year when colton orr cheap shotted couture knee on knee clowe looked like he was ready to kill someone and orr never saw the ice again in the game. this year couture is blatantly targeted in minny, elbowed in the head, and there was zero response from clowe or the rest of the team.

i just hope there isn't a dressing room issue that is dividing the boys.

Ok explain to me the difference between Marleau and Hossa. Go ahead give it your best shot.

I challenge any other Marleau hater to do the same.

I HOPE Roenick is just being unreasonable and petty. I hope it's not something he discovered while playing here.

Marleau reminds me of this guy. So much natural talent, but he just can't manage it for any length of time.

Game 1

Game 2

Game 3

Game 4

Game 5

Game 6

Game 7

To a point i agree with jr. Marleau never shows any enthusiasm or tenacity in plays. He doesn't have to get pissed off, but show some kind of emtion. And as.jr mentioned before he knows marleau can be a great player and cares about him. But he should also rip on the rest of the team too.

You can't be serious. Roenick clearly doesn't give two ***** about Marleau. And I'm starting to think that he has beef with the organization. He seems a little too eager at his chances to rip on the Sharks.

Sharks were one and done in '09 and it was gimp Patty's fault, even though he scored both GWG's in that series.

I am beyond pissed off right now.

Hmmm.. weren't Couture and Clowe roommates on the road?

It appears it's not Couture and Wingels. Could it be the org just wanting to match up two young guys or could there be a rift between Couture and Clowe?
