Please Clarify Something for Me (mod: Couture Question)

First, I come in peace.

I have a guy arguing with me that Couture is the best player on the Sharks. I quickly couterpointed with Thornton and he comes back with this: "Don't get me wrong I like him I have his Jersey but hus a facilitator but when we need a goal or a big play the puck is on Couture's stick thornotn 2nd best."

I'm not sure if this has any truth, don't watch much Sharks games. Is this statement true or his assertion that Couture is #1?

By the way, he also said that Couture is better than Toews, which I found totally asinine.

You should stop discussing hockey with that guy.

He's on my buddy's facebook status. As you can see by his spelling, he's not very intelligent.

Statistically, you can go to behindthenet for some arguments. Otherwise, he needs to watch the game.

Otherwise, who cares?

Over the course of this season I think Couture has been the best player on the Sharks.

That last statement is probably a little over doing it, at least at this point in time. In another year or two that might also be true. The kid has some skills.

Thornton, Marleau, Vlasic, and Boyle are better than him.

Couture is our most consistent player. He plays at a high level game in, game out. Thornton is our best player by far though, and Couture isn't in the same category as JT or Toews.

Other than Couture, Vlasic is also our other most consistent player, but I think it is almost impossible to compare a D-man to a Forward, especially a defensive D-man like Vlasic to a guy like Couture.

Hard to compare, sure, but those are the players who I think are obviously better that Couture. If you only count forwards then just Thornton and Marleau, they each face harder opponents than Couture does.

Thornton in years past has been a better player than Couture of this year, but this year Thornton is certainly not our best player by far. He gives up too many turnover and just seems to not be able to make the magic passes on a regular basis like he has in the past.

Leading the Sharks in points while facing tougher competition than Couture, idk how you can say Couture is doing better...

Pavelski too. Maybe not "obviously" but Cooch is not there yet.

Ya, Pavelski is more arguable though. Pavelski is far and away better defensively but I think Couture is a little better offensively.

I think Pavs has a better shot but Couture is a more gifted passer and has a better goal scoring instinct.

Speaking of Pavs, what's his deal? 23 goals only? Playing with Jumbo? He has disappeared the second half of the season. Time to separate them, IMO.

Thornton is the better player. Couture is better in some areas, but JT has him beat in pretty much everything.

I disagree, and I believe 95% of the world would also disagree.

Lol funny how fans are just starting to complain about thorntons turn overs, considering he has put up roughly the same amount every year since the lockout.

Comparing Couture to He who shall not be named because of His infinite, intangible holiness is utter blasphemy! Why, that man you had a discussion is a deadly sinner! How dare he use His name in such a vein matter!

I'm just going to pretend you're not being sarcastic at all, just because I want to.

Your friend could just be listening to Drew Remenda. The guy has been on Couture's jock for a while now, and kinda ignores the other Sharks who do the same thing. Thornton is easily better than Couture.

He may be mistaken the better player with the more valuable player.

Thornton is still easily the Sharks best forward and he's much better than Couture. Maybe in the future that'll change but for now Thornton is better than Couture.
