Kessel has been notoriously consistent this season.
Yup he has been much more consistent this season than previous. All the credit in the world. Hope he hits 40 so there is another bright spot in what looks to be a black and cloudy season. That being said his line seems to cost us a lot of goals so there is a clear reason to hope for improvement.
It's really disconcerting to see him with that sad tired face on the bench, then burying his head in his hands, I wish he had better body language, he just looks defeated all the time. That said, he's putting up some great numbers this season.

That's cause he really wants to succeed, and I am pretty sure he wants to score on his every shift. I think he genuinely cares and wants to play in the playoffs for this team.
For the sake of all those calling him a 40 goal scorer since the trade I hope so. I doubt very much he gets another chance. He's likely peaking and any sane coach expects a modicum of defensive play from him.

I agree with this. We knew Kessel was a 30 goal scorer he did it in Boston.
40 goals is clear indication he is progressing.
And I would add the second thing that needs to happen beyond 40 (or 50 goal scorer) is the leafs need to make the playoffs at least once during Kessel tenure on the leafs. Else that makes you question, why do the trade in the first place if it won't materially impact the team's playoff chances.
looking at our goal diff., as it is only -9, you can't help but think we'd have a handful more points if we had only a handful more saves, eh?
Not necessarily....Florida's got 1 more win and 7 more points (including 5 more loser points, but shootout goals don't factor into scoring anyways), and their goal diff is closing in on -30.

Maybe 40 goals... 40 assists is more likely, and that's pretty impressive considering everyone thinks of Kessel as a pure sniper. He's definitely capable of sweet passes.

It is so ridiculous that Florida is 3 points up on a playoff position even though they are just a game up on the Leafs if you just count wins and losses. 31-36 Florida, 30-37 Leafs.
